In Pokémon GO today, on February 3rd, the Raid Hour with Raikou starts. We will show you the best counters and tell you why you should participate.
What is a Raid Hour? This event takes place every Wednesday in Pokémon GO. For one hour, legendary raids will appear on almost all gyms.
This week is all about Raikou. The Electric-type Pokémon has its first and so far last Raid Hour in a long time today.
Counters and info for the Raid Hour with Raikou
When does the event run? The Raid Hour runs from 6:00 PM local time. Black eggs will appear on the gyms beforehand, which will hatch at exactly 6:00 PM.
These are the best counters: Raikou is an Electric-type Pokémon and therefore only has a weakness against Ground-type. You should focus on these Pokémon. The best counters are:
| Pokémon | Attacks |
| Rhyperior | Mud-Slap and Earthquake |
| Excadrill | Mud-Slap and Drill Run |
| Garchomp | Mud Shot and Earthquake |
| Groudon | Mud Shot and Earthquake |
| Landorus | Mud Shot and Earth Power |
| Rampardos | Mud-Slap and Earthquake |
| Rhydon | Mud-Slap and Earthquake |
| Mamoswine | Mud-Slap and Steamroller |
| Golurk | Mud-Slap and Earth Power |
| Donphan | Mud-Slap and Earthquake |

How many trainers are needed? You can defeat Raikou with just 3 trainers. However, we recommend at least 5-6 trainers for the Raid Hour.
Keep in mind that you can also invite players to raids. This prevents too many players from gathering in one place and potentially violating Corona regulations.
Reasons to join: Raikou is an incredibly strong Pokémon. The monster is among the best Electric-type attackers – only Zekrom is stronger. So you should participate if you don’t have a good Raikou in your team yet.
Additionally, Raikou can be Shiny. So you should also secure a shiny variant.
