In Pokémon GO today, on February 24th, the Raid Hour with Mewtwo, Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos begins. We will show you the best counters against all monsters and explain why you should participate.
What is a Raid Hour? This event takes place every Wednesday in Pokémon GO. For one hour, a Level-5 Raid will appear at almost every gym and you can catch a lot of legendary Pokémon.
This week features 4 legendary Pokémon. You can challenge Mewtwo, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, and you can also obtain their Shiny forms. The 4 monsters are in focus because the Kanto Event is currently running and generally, Pokémon from Generation 1 are appearing.
Legendary Raid Hour – All Information
When does the event take place? It starts at 6:00 PM local time. A few minutes earlier, black eggs will appear on most gyms, which will hatch at exactly 6:00 PM.
Most raids will then end at 7:00 PM. Some stragglers a few minutes later.
Use these counters: Each of the 4 Pokémon has different monsters that are effective against them. We will provide you with the best 5 counters for each Pokémon and reveal which types are effective against them.
Mewtwo is weak against Ghost, Dark, and Bug types. The best counters are:
- Giratina (Altered Form) with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
- Chandelure with Hex and Shadow Ball
- Darkrai with Charge Beam and Dark Pulse
- Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball
- Hydreigon with Bite and Dark Pulse
Moltres is weak against Rock, Water, and Electric types. The best counters are:
- Rampardos with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Terrakion with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Gigalith with Smack Down and Rock Slide
Zapdos is weak against Ice and Rock types. The best counters are:
- Rampardos with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Terrakion with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Walrein with Powder Snow and Avalanche
- Galarian Motris with Ice Fang and Avalanche
Articuno is weak against Rock, Fire, Electric, and Steel types. The best counters are:
- Rampardos with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Terrakion with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Gigalith with Smack Down and Rock Slide
How many players are needed? We recommend at least 4-5 solid players. While you can defeat the bosses with just 3, it’s better to have more players to make it faster.
Use the remote raid feature especially. This allows enough players to participate and prevents too many trainers from gathering in one spot.
Is the Raid Hour worth it? Definitely! Especially Mewtwo is quite powerful and should be caught multiple times. The legendary Pokémon is among the best attackers in the game.
But Zapdos, Articuno, and especially Moltres are strong as well. Moltres is one of the best Fire attackers and the other two birds are solid alternatives for Electric and Ice types.
Additionally, you can catch all Pokémon as Shinies. So you have a good chance of getting different Shinies during this Raid Hour.
What’s next in Pokémon GO: Many events for March are not yet known. This Raid Hour will be the last one in February.
However, in March it is expected to continue with the Therian forms of Thundurus, Tornadus, and Landorus. They have already been introduced for the new season starting on March 1st.
