In Pokémon GO, the raid hour with Genesect starts today, on August 19. It’s worth it, as it is the only hour featuring the mysterious Pokémon.
What is a raid hour? During this event, level 5 raids are the focus. For one hour, a black raid egg will appear at almost every arena, and you can challenge the legendary or mysterious boss.
Today, everything revolves around the mysterious Pokémon Genesect, which can currently be found in level 5 raids thanks to the Unova Week.
Raid hour today with Genesect
When does the event take place? It starts at 6:00 PM local time. For exactly one hour, until 7:00 PM, most level 5 raids will be running at the arenas.
Which Pokémon should be used? Genesect is a Bug and Steel type. Therefore, only Fire type Pokémon are effective. So, use only Pokémon with fire attacks. The best counters are:
- Reshiram with Fire Fang and Overheat
- Skelabra with Fire Spin and Overheat
- Lavados with Fire Spin and Overheat
A detailed overview of the best counters and more exciting information about the boss can be found in our counter guide for Genesect.
How many trainers are needed for Genesect? Technically, Genesect can already be defeated alone. However, this only works with Shadow Pokémon.
Alternatively, Genesect can already be defeated easily in duo – even at level 25. For the raid hour, we recommend a group size of about 4-5 players, so that progress is made faster.
Why is the raid hour worth it? Genesect can first be encountered as a Shiny since the Unova event. Additionally, it will only remain in raids for one week and will disappear this Friday.
So, if you don’t have a Shiny yet, you should take advantage of the raid hour, as you can do a number of raids there. So far, there is no information on when Genesect will return to the raids, so it may take a while.
What’s next for the raid hours? So far, Genesect is the last Pokémon known for the level 5 raid. Starting Friday, another raid boss should come, which is still completely unknown.
The raid hours take place every Wednesday. So you can expect that we can participate in a raid hour with another legendary or mysterious Pokémon next Wednesday.
