In Pokémon GO today, on July 28, 2021, the weekly Raid Hour is taking place again. Today, you will face Dialga in the Level 5 Raids. We have looked at whether the Raid Hour is worth it and which counters you should use against Dialga.
What is a Raid Hour? Every Wednesday, a one-hour Raid event takes place for trainers in Pokémon GO. During this time, Level 5 Raids start in almost all gyms, where you can encounter legendary Pokémon.
This week, you can expect the legendary Pokémon Dialga as the Raid Boss. We will show you which counters you should use best against Dialga.
Raid Hour with Dialga – Information and Counters
When does it start? Like every Wednesday, today’s Raid Hour starts at 6:00 PM. Beforehand, you will already see black eggs over the gyms from which the Raid Boss will hatch on time. After one hour, at 7:00 PM, the short event will already be over and the raids will decrease.
Is there Shiny Dialga? Yes, since the start of the first Hyper Bonus on July 23, 2021, you can finally encounter Dialga in its shiny form in the game. You can clearly distinguish it from the normal form by its green color.
These counters you should use: Dialga is a legendary Pokémon from Generation 4 and is of Steel and Dragon type. It has a particular weakness to Ground and Fighting type attacks. You should take advantage of this in the raid and use appropriate Pokémon.
Using the overview from Pokebattler, we have summarized the best counters against Dialga for you (via pokebattler.com).
| Pokémon | Moveset |
| Lucario | Counter & Aura Sphere |
| (Shadow) Machamp | Counter & Dynamic Punch |
| Garchomp | Counter & Dynamic Punch |
| Excadrill | Mud Slap & Drill Run |
| (Shadow) Hariyama | Counter & Dynamic Punch |
| Groudon | Mud Shot & Earthquake |
| Landorus | Mud Shot & Earth Power |
| Rhyperior | Mud Slap & Earthquake |
| Conkeldurr | Counter & Dynamic Punch |
| (Shadow) Mamoswine | Mud Slap & Steamroll |
Landorus is well suited as a counter against Dialga in both its Therian and Incarnate forms. For the Therian form, use Earthquake as the charge attack. For the Incarnate form, we recommend using Earth Power.
If you want to use a Mega Evolution in the raid, use these:
- Mega Lopunny with High Jump Kick & Focus Blast
- Mega Charizard Y with Fire Spin & Blast Burn
How many trainers do you need? With the most effective counters, you can defeat Dialga with just 3 trainers. We recommend at least 4 players for the raid. The larger your group is, the easier it will be. Also, make use of the opportunity to invite friends via Remote Raids or join other raids yourself with your Remote Raid passes.
Is the Raid Hour worth it?
Dialga is one of the legendary monsters that has rarely been encountered in the game so far. Due to its high attack stats, it is among the best attackers in Pokémon GO. It is thus well suited for use in raids and can also hold its own in PvP battles.
If you do not have a strong Dialga yet or need some candies, you should definitely seize this opportunity. Additionally, the shiny variant has only recently been added to the game, so this is your chance to snag one.
What’s next? To catch Dialga, you will have a few more opportunities in the coming days, as it will remain in the game as a Raid Boss until August 6, 2021. Additionally, the first Hyper Bonus that you earned during the GO Fest will still run until August 3. Which Pokémon the community suspects in the last Hyper Bonus event we have looked into and summarized for you.
Will you participate in the Raid Hour today? Or have you already managed to snag a shiny Dialga? Feel free to share your thoughts on this here, on MeinMMO, in the comments.
