Gyms in Pokémon GO give you Stardust and Coins!
While battles in the gym give you popular experience points, there are better methods to gain many of them than taking over gyms. With Pidgeys, for example, you can earn a lot of experience in Pokémon GO.
Gyms, however, give you the coveted PokéCoins, with which you can buy items in the shop – Additionally, you receive Stardust, which you can use to power up your Pokémon. Use the gyms properly to collect many rewards.
Advantages in the Village
If you search for gyms on the map, you usually have a harder time in the village than in the city. However, this doesn’t have to be a disadvantage if you live in a very small village. Because then the number of opponents is also lower. Once you’ve secured your place in a gym, you can claim your rewards every 21 hours. For each gym, you get 500 Stardust and 10 PokéCoins, up to a maximum of 5000 Stardust and 100 PokéCoins for holding 10 gyms.
To collect the rewards, you need to open the shop in the game and click the shield symbol in the upper right corner. The number in the symbol tells you how many gyms you currently own. Don’t use the gained Stardust randomly on any Pokémon, but first ensure how to use Stardust best in Pokémon GO.
If you have several gyms in your area, you should remember which are active and which are more inactive. Start with the less visited gyms but do not place your strongest Pokémon there; instead, use the weaker or “mid-strong” companions. In the rarely visited gyms, often a weaker Pokémon is enough as a sort of “placeholder” to secure the reward. Then, make your way to the frequently visited gyms, which you can take over with the help of your strongest Pokémon.
As soon as you are satisfied with the number of gyms you hold simultaneously, you should collect the rewards for it.
