The global Sinnoh Tour in Pokémon GO is approaching. Here you will find useful tips on how to prepare for it.
What is the Sinnoh Tour? The Sinnoh Tour runs next weekend, on February 24 and 25. It is the grand final event of the currently running season “Timeless Travels”.
Throughout the Sinnoh Tour, the focus will mainly be on Pokémon from the fourth generation, specifically from the games “Diamond” and “Pearl”. However, monsters from the Hisui region from the game “Legends: Arceus” will also be represented. This aligns with the appearance of the two primordial forms of Dialga and Palkia.
You can find an overview of the contents of the global Sinnoh Tour here.
Now there are only a few days left until the Sinnoh Tour starts. We will show you how to prepare for it now.
Tips on how to prepare for the Sinnoh Tour in the game
1. Complete Step 1 of “Path to Sinnoh”
The “Path to Sinnoh” event is currently running in Pokémon GO with matching special research. You should definitely complete the first step, as it will determine whether you want to play the Pearl version or the Diamond version of the Tour.
The differences between Pearl and Diamond in the special research can be found here.
Depending on your choice, during the Sinnoh Tour you will encounter a guaranteed primordial Palkia with Spatial Rend (Pearl) or a guaranteed primordial Dialga with Roar of Time (Diamond).
You can also use the two attacks outside of battles for bonuses. How this works, you can read here.
Recently, trainers used the Dialga bonus to extend adventure incense to 12 hours.
2. Prepare your raid teams, save passes
Primordial Dialga and Primordial Palkia appear in raids during the Sinnoh Tour, and who knows when they will return after that. If you want to challenge them, you will need raid passes. And yes, even though the “Path to Sinnoh” is currently running with changing legendary raid monsters, you might want to save up some passes.
Additionally, you should prepare raid teams to challenge the strong primordial forms.
- You need counters of the types Dragon and Fairy for Primordial Palkia. Monsters like Mega Rayquaza, Mega Garchomp, Mega Gardevoir, but also Dragonite, Cupidos, or Salamence are worth using here.
- You need counters of the types Fighting and Ground for Primordial Dialga. For example, using monsters like Primal Groudon, Excadrill, Garchomp, or Terrakion and Lucario, you can score points here.
3. Consider if you want to trade Pokémon
During the Sinnoh Tour, you can perform up to six special trades each day. This means you can trade Shinies, legendary Pokémon, or monsters you don’t have yet with other trainers.
Accordingly, you should consider which Pokémon you can trade yourself and which ones you might still need. Additionally, the trade during the event only costs half the stardust.
4. Prepare incense, incubators, and space for eggs
During the Sinnoh Tour, there is a bonus of half hatch distance for all eggs activated during the event. This means you should try to have your incubators empty at the start of the event so you can use them immediately.
In the eggs, you will find the following monsters during the Sinnoh Tour:
- 2 km: Budew*, Drifloon*, Surskit*, Mime Jr.*, Wailmer*, Munchlax*. Riolu*, Mantyke*
- 5 km: Skuntank*, Gible*, Hisui Voltorb*, Hisui Basculin*
- 10 km: Pachirisu*, Chatot*, Venusaur*
So the 10 km eggs are particularly exciting since they bring regional Pokémon that also have a shiny chance.
The incense is also helpful during the event, as there is a chance to encounter Unown. The Unown letters H, I, N, O, and S will be roaming, and they can also appear as shinies.
5. Prepare for Party Play and possibly routes
If you haven’t used Party Play and routes yet, you should look into them over the weekend. Because at the event, it is guaranteed to get one monster and possible to get another through these features.
- At the event, you can encounter the legendary Regigigas if you complete Party Play challenges. We show you how to use Party Play here.
- In the Los Angeles version, trainers could encounter a white-striped Snorlax when using routes. These have not been available in Pokémon GO before. Specific announcements for the global version are not made yet, but it is conceivable that they will also appear here. Therefore: Plan to have a route nearby.
6. Make space in your collection
Overall, there is a possibility to catch many exciting Pokémon during the Sinnoh Tour. This includes new shiny Pokémon that you can find throughout the event.
A list of new shinies for the Sinnoh Tour can be found here.
To catch as many as possible and use the time effectively, you should make room in your collection so you don’t constantly have to send away monsters in between.
Use the filter function, for instance, to sort out weak monsters from your collection. Here are some tips for quickly filtering your collection.
Tips on how to prepare for the Sinnoh Tour outside the game
The big event is based on being out and about to catch a lot, hatch eggs, challenge raids, and more. Accordingly, you should also prepare.
7. Plan when you want to head out
Basically, you can just head out, but the day is long, and there are rotating habitats that are available twice a day.
- The “Bustling Promenade” habitat runs from 10:00 to 11:00 and 14:00 to 15:00.
- “Historic Grove” runs from 11:00 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 16:00.
- “Toxic Excavations” runs from 12:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 17:00.
- “Geothermal Lagoon” runs from 13:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 18:00.
Important: Primordial Palkia and Primordial Dialga are available during the “Historic Grove” and “Geothermal Lagoon” habitats.
8. Familiarize yourself with Campfire, coordinate for raids
To make raids successful, you should coordinate with friends on when and where you want to challenge them. During the event, there is also no limit on remote raids – you can use as many remote raid passes as you want, not just 5 per day.
If you lack groups, you can use the Campfire app to potentially connect with raid teams in your area. Another option is to participate in remote raids using apps like PokéGenie – we show you how to do that here.
9. Charge gadgets
Do you use autocatchers to catch as many Pokémon as possible? Then you should charge them in time before heading out over the weekend so you don’t find yourself missing battery charge. The same goes for power banks and anything else that can be useful.
