In Pokémon GO, the “Research Day Under Electricity” takes place on the weekend. Especially fans of shiny Pokémon should mark this date.
When does the Research Day take place? The Research Day takes place on Sunday, March 3, 2024. It runs from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time.
What kind of event is it? The Research Days in Pokémon GO are all about field research. Here’s how it works: During the event period, you will receive special field research from PokéStops that you can complete to encounter the following five Pokémon:
- Lampi*
- Frizelbliz*
- Elezeba*
- Wattzapf*
- Eguana*
This is special: For all five, you have an increased chance of shiny variants during the event. So if you’re looking to fill your Pokédex with shiny Pokémon, this is a good date for you.
The new Research Day is the first larger event of the new season “World Full of Wonders.”. You can watch the trailer here.
What else is happening during Research Day in Pokémon GO?
Which Pokémon will appear? In the wild, you will also primarily encounter Pokémon related to the Electric type. The wild spawns can be found here, possible shinies are marked with an asterisk*. Note: For these Pokémon, the chance of shiny variants is not increased.
- Pikachu*
- Voltobal*
- Plusle*
- Minun*
- Emolga
- Pamo
It is possible that you will need to catch Electric-type Pokémon for the research. Here would be good opportunities.
Additionally, the shop will offer a ticket for one dollar (in Germany likely comparable), which will grant you limited research. This will also involve completing field research tasks to encounter the five highlighted Pokémon more often. However, this is an optional ticket.
Even after Research Day, the new month will bring plenty of dates to catch exciting Pokémon. You can find all events in Pokémon GO for March 2024 here.
