In Pokémon GO there is a bonus in the current event when you evolve Pokémon. We explain what it is and why you should take advantage of it.
What kind of event is this? Currently in Pokémon GO, the Carnival of Love
event is taking place. This event runs until Thursday, February 15, 2024, and brings you, among other things, a series of event Pokémon and a collector’s challenge that you can complete within the event.
Additionally, during the event, two bonuses are active that make collecting the coveted XL candies easier. And you should make use of one of these bonuses if you still have Pokémon that you want to evolve.
XL Candies in Focus of the Bonuses
What bonuses are these? On one hand, you have an increased chance of getting XL candies when you are out with your buddy Pokémon. On the other hand, there are 2 guaranteed XL candies when you evolve a Pokémon. And especially this bonus can be very rewarding.
Why is it worthwhile to evolve Pokémon with this bonus? You need XL candies to level up your Pokémon further from a certain level. Although there are various ways to obtain XL candies, they are rare and you need many to get your Pokémon to the highest level.
The guaranteed XL candies are therefore a good bonus if you have Pokémon left that you want to evolve and raise their level. Many of the strongest Pokémon want to walk with you 5 km as a buddy Pokémon to give you a chance for an XL candy. In this case, you save a total of 10 km of walking distance to get to the coveted candies.
Which Pokémon make particularly good use of the bonus? If you even have a Cosmog to evolve or a comparable legendary Pokémon, the bonus becomes even more worthwhile for you. With legendary Pokémon, you have to walk 20 km to have a chance at an XL candy this way. Here, you can save a whopping 40 km. The form change of Zygarde also counts as evolution here.
