In Pokémon GO, many players have now reached the maximum level 40. This level will remain the maximum level for the time being.
At the press event for the presentation of the new PvP mode, Matt Slemon, the product manager of Pokémon GO, also spoke. The press was allowed to ask him some questions after the presentation. There he also commented on the increase of the maximum level.
The level cap in Pokémon GO remains at 40 for now
What was asked? Niantic invited press representatives from all over Germany to an event where the trainer battles were presented. In a subsequent Q&A session, product manager Matt Slemon was asked whether the maximum level would also be increased together with the PvP mode.
What did Slemon answer? Slemon’s answer was quick and clear: No, there will not be an increase in levels for the time being. Level 40 remains the maximum level.
Who is Matt Slemon? He is responsible for marketing but also for the planning of Pokémon GO. His statement carries a lot of weight as he should be well informed about the future of Pokémon GO.
Do we need a level increase? Many players believe so. Every day new people reach level 40. Reaching this level would be easy through active play. Therefore, there is a desire for an increase of the limit.
This is what our author Noah thinks about it
Leveling up was the most fun for me: I find it unfortunate that there will probably be no level increase for the time being. I have been level 40 since August 2017 and am eagerly waiting to level up again. That was one of the things I enjoyed most about Pokémon GO.
I set my own goals: For me, level 40 is hardly worth anything anymore. Just through raids, you get a lot of experience points. Any player who has played for just half an hour daily since day one and has done a few legendary raids is already long level 40. For me, it has not been a maximum for a long time, and I am now setting my own goals to stay motivated.
A level increase would motivate me again and redefine my goals.
What would you think of a level expansion? What do you say to Matt Slemon’s statement?
Look forward to these field research tasks in December.
