This weekend, the biggest event of the year starts in Pokémon GO: The GO Fest 2021. At this event, you have the opportunity to buy a ticket. We will show you what you get with and without a ticket and who should consider purchasing one.
What is it about? On July 17 and 18, 2021, the GO Fest 2021 will take place. You can participate in this event from anywhere in the world. However, to take advantage of all the features, you will need a ticket. You can buy this in the Pokémon GO in-game shop for 5.49 Euros. We will show you what you get for your money.
With or without a ticket – Here are the differences
As in the past, there will be bonuses for all players during the GO Fest 2021. This also applies to trainers who did not purchase a ticket. For all who invested money in a ticket, there will be additional bonuses. We will show you where the differences lie.
What you get without a ticket
Even if you decide against purchasing a ticket, you can benefit from the Pokémon GO Fest. As Niantic announced, there will be the following bonuses for all players:
- Lure modules last 3 hours
- 1/2 hatch distance for eggs
- exclusive research tasks & visual effects on the map
- free t-shirt for the avatar
- trainer photos in the today view
- special music by Pokémon composer Junichi Masuda
- crafting templates for trainers around the world
Furthermore, during the event, you will also encounter some wild Pokémon. These are divided into 4 habitats and change hourly. You can catch these monsters even without a ticket:
| Habitat | Pokémon |
| Jungle | Scyther, Skitty, Froakie |
| Desert Mountain | Pansear, Shroomish, Hippopotas |
| Seaside | Dratini, Swablu, Shroomish |
| Caves | Roggenrola, Galarian Whimpod, Capsakid |
Additionally, there should also be a costumed Pikachu, Zubat, Woobat, and Palpitoad available to catch in the wild. In the 7 km eggs, Pokémon such as Klang, Swablu, and Woobat can be found. These are usually also available to all players.
Moreover, you will find special Pokémon in the raids during the event. On Sunday, July 18, 2021, all legendary monsters that have been available in the game will be found in the level-5 raids. These include Mewtwo, Reshiram, Kyogre, or Groudon. Which legendary Pokémon are particularly worth it have been summarized for you.
Here you can find an overview of all legendary monsters at GO Fest 2021 and the times when you can catch them.
Also, Kapoera, Koknodon, and Capsakid, as well as costumed Pokémon like Galarian Ponyta and Galarian Zigzagoon should be findable in raids during the event. Since raids in the game are accessible to everyone, they can also be participated in by trainers who did not purchase a ticket.
What you get with a ticket
Those who purchased a ticket for the GO Fest 2021 can look forward to additional special features alongside the bonuses available to all players. We will show you what they are:
- Saturday:
- Special research with Meloetta
- Surprise with snapshots after completing the special task
- Global challenges: Here you have the opportunity to jointly complete a challenge hourly to activate a bonus for the remaining hour
- Collector challenges for each individual habitat

Through incense, ticket holders will also receive additional Pokémon that will spawn wild during the respective habitats. Incognito F and G will be catchable continuously.
| Habitat | Pokémon |

| Desert Mountain | Flareon, Desportar, Libelldra, Jiutesto |
| Seaside | Gyarados, Vaporeon, Azumarill, Karadonis |

Through the special task, ticket holders also have the opportunity to encounter the mysterious Pokémon Meloetta. Furthermore, there are various costumed Pokémon, such as Pikachu as a Pop or Rock Star, Galarian Ponyta, Galarian Zigzagoon, Gardevoir, and Libelldra that players can choose and that influence the research tasks.
Who should consider getting the ticket?
Considering the pure value of the ticket, for 5.49 Euros you get a significantly higher value than normally. Just the remote raid passes that will be available for free on Sunday are worth about 10 Euros. Additionally, there are numerous other items that you receive as rewards.
The ticket is thus worthwhile even for trainers who simply want to obtain these items cheaply. However, the ticket also offers players a variety of special Pokémon. There will be monsters to catch that you don’t often find in the game or that are native to other regions.
With a bit of luck, you may also encounter shiny versions. Also, the mysterious Pokémon Meloetta will be catchable for the first time in Pokémon GO. Anyone who wants to have such a Pokémon in their collection should consider making an investment.
Additionally, collecting rare, shiny, and regional Pokémon offers the opportunity to trade these later with friends.
Conclusion
So, anyone who wants to actively play this weekend should definitely get the event ticket. Also, players who are only interested in the legendary raids on Sunday should consider purchasing one. By buying, they will receive some free raid passes on Sunday, which would otherwise cost a lot of coins.
Trainers who are neither interested in the special Pokémon nor the items or who find no time to play over the weekend should forgo purchasing the ticket.
