In Pokémon GO, the legendary raid boss is changing today, on November 5th. For nearly 11 days, you can battle the legendary Pokémon Lugia. We at MeinMMO will tell you in this guide what the best counters are.
This is changing in the raids: On Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 10:00 PM our time, Lugia returns to level 5 raid battles.
Lugia last appeared there with Ho-Oh during a raid event in December 2019. Now is a good chance to secure this legendary Pokémon for yourself.
How long will Lugia stay? The Pokémon will remain until Monday, November 16, 2020, also at 10:00 PM. Afterwards it will be replaced by Terrakion, Cobalion, and Virizion.
These are the best counters against Lugia
Lugia is Psychic and Flying type. It is vulnerable to attacks from Electric, Rock, Dark, Ghost, and Ice types. You can therefore set up a wide team of the best attackers in Pokémon GO as counters. However, the types Grass, Ground, Fighting, and Psychic are useless.
The best counters are the following Pokémon:
Mega-Gengar
Since Lugia’s last appearance in the raids, the new Mega Evolutions have been introduced. This makes Gengar particularly effective:
- Fast Attack: Lick
- Charge Attack: Shadow Ball
Mega-Houndoom
Like Gengar, Houndoom also benefits from its Mega form:
- Fast Attack: Snarl
- Charge Attack: Foul Play
Darkrai
If you prefer not to use a Mega Pokémon, you can utilize Darkrai. Darkrai will remain until Lugia appears in the raids:
- Fast Attack: Snarl
- Charge Attack: Dark Pulse
Giratina (Altered Form)
The second best counter against Lugia is the Altered Form of Giratina. The Pokémon has strong Ghost attacks and can take a lot of damage:
- Fast Attack: Hex
- Charge Attack: Shadow Ball
Zekrom
Zekrom is also very effective and can be used if you prefer Electric Pokémon:
- Fast Attack: Charge Beam
- Charge Attack: Volt Switch
Other good counters
- Electivire with Thunder Shock and Volt Switch
- Raikou with Thunder Shock and Volt Switch
- Snibunna with Snarl and Avalanche
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Zapdos with Thunder Shock and Thunderbolt
- Magnezone with Spark and Volt Switch
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Rock Wrecker
- Chandelure with Curse and Shadow Ball
What you need to know about Lugia
These are good stats for Lugia: A Lugia with 100% IV has a CP of 2,115 from a raid, and up to 2,645 CP in windy weather.
Lugia has an attack value of 193, a defense value of 310, and a HP value of 235. In total, Lugia can reach a maximum CP of 3,703; as a buddy, it can even reach 3,750 CP.
What about the Shiny? Lugia has also entered the game with its Shiny form. The chance of getting a Shiny from a legendary raid is approximately 1 in 19.
