The event with Shiny Enton in Pokémon GO is over, and some players surely went home empty-handed. This might also be due to huge nests.
What happened? Last weekend, players could encounter Shiny Enton more frequently worldwide. However, some players left this event empty-handed. This might also be because of huge nests placed in your city.
What are nests? You can usually find nests in parks and green spaces. Many specimens of a particular Pokémon gather there.
However, there are also some huge nests worldwide that are spread over an entire district. In these areas, you can find a Pokémon species as frequently as in normal nests.
That’s why nests also influence shiny events
The problem with huge nests is: Many of these large nests are spread across an entire city or district. There, many nest Pokémon spawn with a high probability.
The Enton event last weekend introduced a new Shiny that appears more frequently in the wild. But how can you find this Shiny if you only encounter nest Pokémon in the wild?
Where can I find such nests? The most popular huge nest in Germany is probably the southwest of Berlin. There, an entire nest extends over several districts. A bit further west of Berlin, in the outskirts, another such nest stretches out.
But some small towns are also affected by this problem. In those places, almost exclusively nest Pokémon spawn throughout the entire town because the whole area is such a nest.
On Reddit, a player is now also reporting this problem in Long Island, New York. Almost 8 million people live in a huge Pokémon nest there.
Where do these nests come from? Normally, nests are found in parks. So why are there such huge nests that are not only found in parks?
Niantic uses mapping data from OSM to identify nests. Experts delineate certain areas as parks or other recreational areas. Niantic then adopts these delineations for Pokémon GO and allows nests to appear there.
The huge nest in Berlin was of course not marked as a park, but as a plateau, which it indeed is. However, Niantic also considers such a plateau as a nest, which is why a huge nest emerges there. Similar causes also apply to other huge nests.
How can I get Shiny Enton now? The chance for Shiny Enton still exists. However, this chance is just not as significant as it was over the weekend. When the next event with a Shiny runs, you should better leave your nest out the door and hunt in normal areas. There, the chance of finding a shiny Pokémon is significantly higher.
