In Pokémon GO, the Sinnoh event is coming to an end along with the Nostalgia Challenge. However, Niantic has already revealed what happens next.
Here’s the status of the Nostalgia Challenge: The entire May 2020 was marked by this event in Pokémon GO. Each week, a different generation was in the spotlight.
This Friday, on May 29 at 1:00 PM local time, the Sinnoh event and thus the last part of the Nostalgia Challenge will come to an end.
But Niantic is following up with a celebration around this challenge. This is a new event with completely new Pokémon.
Celebration for the Nostalgia Challenge starts next week
What happens next: On June 3, this coming Wednesday at 1:00 PM local time, this celebration will kick off. It will last until June 8 at 1:00 PM local time.
We will therefore not have an event for a few days now. The break will be from Friday to Wednesday. During this period, spawns are likely to return to normal – at least nothing else has been announced so far.
What does the new event bring? This event will unlock more Pokémon from the Galar region. There are also other bonuses:
- A new special research will be available, which includes Genesect as a reward
- The Galar forms of Meowth, Flunchlik, Zigzagoon, and Obstagoon will be introduced and will be available in 7 km eggs. Galar Meowth will even appear in raids and the wild
- Pokémon from the Unova region, which is Gen 5, will appear more frequently in the wild
What you need to know about the special research: You will only receive this special research if you have completed all four special researches for Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh in the past weeks. Then you will receive it directly at the start of the event and completely free of charge.
If you have not completed all researches, you can purchase the new special research for the event launch for €7.99 in the in-game shop.
Those who have completed all the researches can also buy a modified version of the new special research in the shop. Instead of Pokémon, you will receive 10 candies of each and Stardust.
The special research includes the following:
- Encounters with Galar Meowth and Flunchlik
- Encounters with Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Zebstrika, Throh, Obstagoon, and Genesect
- Professor Willow’s glasses for your avatar
Is the new event worth it? You should at least secure the new Galar Pokémon for your Pokédex. This also means that you can receive completely new Pokémon. Galar Meowth evolves into Liepard, and Galar Stunfisk evolves into Barraskewda.
It remains to be seen whether Galar Porenta will come into the game along with its evolution, Galar Dartrix. After all, data miners have already found hints for that.
The spawns related to the 5th generation also sound exciting. One can hope that there will still be some Pokémon spawning that trainers lack in their Pokédex.
