In Pokémon GO, extensive changes have gone live that are being seen by more and more players. These include updates to the Pokédex and the map – but not everything is working yet.
What is changing in the Pokédex: After the improved Pokédex was first tested by some trainers, the new feature is now reaching for the birthday event more and more players. The update: You can now filter by different Pokémon categories in the Pokédex. For example, you can display the Crypto, Event, or Shiny Pokémon you have collected so far.
This way, you can better track which monsters you have already caught shiny variants of and which ones you might want to hunt again. However, the feature is not functioning as trainers had hoped.
What the community says: In the Pokémon GO subreddit, trainers noticed that the Pokédex still has its gaps. Because although players have already caught some Pokémon, these are forgotten in the Pokédex.
An example shows a trainer from the UK who is trying out the feature for the first time: “Everything is based only on what you have in the box when you get the Dex. For example, mine does not show a Bidiza in the perfect Dex that I caught during the last event and evolved yesterday. So it obviously never tracked anything, not even a few days ago” (via reddit).
Another writes: “The different Dexes confuse me. I know that “Erlöst”, “Event” and “Crypto” are not correct, but I’m pretty sure my “Shiny” Dex is okay” (via reddit)
Many players had hoped that the improved Pokédex would display more historical data. However, in many categories, it seems that already sent or evolved monsters are missing. Additionally, in some trainers, some categories still seem to be absent.
More changes to the map are live
What else has changed: In addition to the Pokédex, the dynamic sky has now gone live in more locations. This feature visually represents the weather in a more realistic way in the game and beautifies the game.
Moreover, an update to the map itself seems to have occurred: more up-to-date street data has been added. So it’s possible that you’re now seeing more or different streets than before.
While the sky feature is well-received in the community, there is still discussion about the streets. Here, it apparently involves outdated data, as some players noted in their neighborhood (via reddit).
Additionally, there are isolated trainers who are currently seeing a completely empty map and are unable to play properly (via reddit). However, these seem to be isolated cases.
