Pokémon GO: The latest update is really poorly received – Only 10% of you like it

The avatar update in Pokémon GO was received very poorly by the community. We asked you for your opinion and you voted actively.

What kind of update is this? Recently, a major update with 4 new features was announced for Pokémon GO. These features were divided into various segments, most of which have already made their way into the game.

One feature that renewed the appearance of avatars and the editor for them was received very poorly by large parts of the community. It was even labeled as the worst update in the history of updates.

More than 80% of you want the old avatar back

What was the purpose of the survey? In the survey, we wanted to know your opinion on the avatar update. As of April 6, 2024, at 12:40, 2,546 trainers had voted. The results are as follows:

• I want my old avatar back with 2,124 votes, which corresponds to about 83%
• I don’t care about the avatar with 213 votes, which corresponds to about 8%
• I think it’s generally good with 162 votes, which corresponds to about 6%
• I think it’s great with 47 votes, which corresponds to about 2%

The vast majority of you, about 83%, want the old avatar back. Your opinion aligns quite closely with the reaction to the update that can be found on social media. While about 8% of you like the update or think it’s great, 8% are not interested in the avatar at all.

Some trainers also took the time to leave their thoughts in the comments. They wrote the following:

• I’m more of a player who doesn’t care about the avatar as long as it looks somewhat decent – and my bar is really low. But what is being delivered here is utterly crap, writes user Ach Nee on MeinMMO
• Sorry, but what was Niantic thinking? There are so many great programs for avatar design. Not just one criterion is bad, no, all of them are, says user 37124DTM on MeinMMO
• I spent 1-2 minutes experimenting with it and have to say, if anyone wants to create an even uglier avatar with this, they must have every reason to be completely satisfied with the update, writes user Walez on MeinMMO

It remains to be seen whether Niantic will take the feedback from the trainers to heart and make changes to the new avatar system. So far, it seems to cause good mood for very few.

The update was received so poorly in parts of the community that compensations for clothing items were demanded.
