Your time with the new coin system in Pokémon GO ends in a few hours. We recommend that you take advantage of the system quickly, especially in rural areas.
What happens to the coin system? Niantic tested new methods for earning coins in Pokémon GO over the past months. The test started on August 5, 2020.
Instead of simply earning the currency by defending gyms as usual, trainers can now complete smaller, daily tasks. This is a good solution for trainers in rural areas who do not have a gym nearby to earn coins.
The daily tasks consist of hitting great or fantastic throws, catching Pokémon with berries, or defeating Team Rocket grunts. Tasks that anyone can accomplish with a little practice. The controversial Raid Quest was removed by Niantic after strong criticism from trainers.
But now it’s over with the new system. You can use it for the last time on November 5.
What happens to the coin system in Pokémon GO?
How long will the new system last? You can use the new system until November 5 at 23:59. Starting Friday, November 6, the “old” system should be active again.
What changes specifically? With the “old” system, you can no longer earn 20 coins through daily tasks, as is currently the case in Pokémon GO.
You will return to the old system, where players earn coins by defending gyms. For defending for about 8 hours, you will receive 50 coins. The daily limit of 50 coins remains in place.
