In Pokémon GO preparations for the upcoming Easter event have obviously begun, as a new discovery shows the first content. We at MeinMMO have taken a look at what has been found and how the community is reacting to it.
What kind of event is it? Every year, there is a special Easter event in Pokémon GO around the Easter holidays. This event features thematically appropriate monsters.
So far, there has been no official information from Niantic regarding when and with which monsters such an event will take place this year, but the latest findings from the PokeMiners now show the first possible Pokémon. We will show you which they are.
The PokeMiners are a group of data miners. They regularly search the game code of Pokémon GO for new information and make this data publicly available to other trainers. Their findings often reveal new Pokémon or features in the game ahead of an actual release.
But be careful, this is not official information. For this reason, Niantic can decide at any time to change the data or not to bring it into the game at all.
These are the findings about the Easter event
As the PokeMiners communicate on social media, they have recently come across three costumed Pokémon. As you can see in the image from the reddit post by martycochrane, the found Pokémon are the evolutions Togetic, Togekiss, and Schlapor.
All of them are wearing a flower crown, making them visually perfect for spring and particularly for the Easter event. Additionally, their respective shiny variants can also be seen in the image.
What are the community’s reactions?
In the reddit community, these findings are creating a lot of excitement. Especially the Togepi family is thrilling many trainers. Some time ago, Togepi, the pre-evolution of Togetic and Togekiss, was available in the game with such a flower crown.
However, there has been a major catch so far: Togepi could not be evolved. Many players found this very disappointing, as Togekiss is one of the strongest fairy attackers in the game and can also score big in the PvP league. This is particularly frustrating for a Shundo, a Shiny, and 100% Pokémon.
The hope of many trainers
Trainers are now hoping that an evolution of the little monster will finally be possible for the Easter event. In the comments, the following reactions can be found (via reddit.com):
- shaliozero: “Congratulations to all owners of a 100% Togepi with a flower crown. Your day has come.”
- OwtEra: “I’ve been waiting for almost 2 years. Can’t wait to finally evolve it!”
- MS0ffice: “This is great, I have a friend with a Shundo flower-crowned Togepi who will be happy about this.”
- Kanime_tv: “Please let it be for Easter. I’ve been waiting to use my hundred flower-crowned Togepi for something.”
- Mylife212: “When I saw the word ‘costume’ in the title, my first reaction was ‘Please no more costumes…’, but this is a nice and VERY welcome surprise! My friend with his shiny flower Togepi will be happy about this.”
- PGFMenace: “I never thought this day would come. This gives me hope for many of the other costumes, which don’t seem too difficult to implement.”
The trainer gusagusagus even goes a step further and speculates that shiny Togetic could be available to catch in the wild for the first time during the Easter event.
He writes: “My guess is that we will be able to evolve them during the Easter event. Togetic and Haspiror will be in the wild with flower crowns and for the first time, Togetic will be shiny in the wild.” (via reddit.com).
The concerns of some trainers
However, there are also trainers who are not so sure whether Niantic will actually fulfill the dream of many players and allow the old Togepi with flower crowns to evolve (via reddit.com):
- my_loose_seal: “Do you think we will have to catch them again? Or can we only evolve them if we already have one?”
- HumanistGeek: “I predict that only newly acquired Togepi with flower crowns can evolve into flower crown Togetic & Togekiss. The same goes for Haspiror and Schlapor.”
And bbressman2 can already vividly imagine a statement from Niantic, saying: “We have listened to the players and implemented costumed evolutions* into raids. Hurry up and give us your money, trainers, because if you are lucky, you might find a shiny. *You cannot evolve Pokémon into these new costumed forms, sorry for the inconvenience.” (via reddit.com)
Whether the costumed Pokémon will actually be available during the Easter event remains to be seen; and whether they can only be caught individually as shiny or can evolve from older costumed Pokémon is also yet to be determined.
