In Pokémon GO the big Easter event with many costumed Pokémon is currently running. Our author Noah Struthoff has a problem with this: Sending these monsters takes forever!
This is the Easter event: The spawns and bonuses around the Easter event sound really strong. Until Thursday, April 16th, you have a good chance of encountering Pokémon like Chansey, Owei, and various costumed Pokémon. Additionally, rare Pokémon like Riolu are significantly more common from eggs.
The event promises a lot of fun and ultimately delivers on that promise. There is a lot to do for me, and I have already bagged quite a few shinies. However, the rude awakening always comes in the evening. There I have to send the event Pokémon one by one, and just that takes me over 20 minutes each time.
Event Pokémon are cute, but have a significant disadvantage
This is the situation with the event Pokémon: Each of the monsters currently wearing a hat or flower crown cannot be sent in bulk. Each time, you have to confirm twice that you want to send one. Currently, there are particularly many of these monsters:
- Pichu with flower crown
- Pikachu with flower hat
- Togepi with flower crown
- Eevee with flower crown
- Hatsiror with flower crown
So, with almost every second Pokémon that you catch, you have the same problem: You can only send it with difficulty.
This is how it goes for me: While playing, I send off all Pokémon that have less than 3 stars in the rating. There I can enter a quick search command and quickly sort them out while I’m on the go. However, the entire event Pokémon cannot be sent quickly, which is why I always send them off collectively in the evening.
In the evening, I often sit with over 100 event Pokémon that I need to send. This always takes over 20 minutes. Time that you can hardly waste more uselessly.
Why is it so hard to send event Pokémon? The reason is probably that they are something special and should not be sent by accident. Shinies and Legendary Pokémon have the exact same system when sending.
The problem is, however, that the current event Pokémon are not special at all but are sitting around every corner. It still makes some sense for the baby Pokémon because you at least had to hatch eggs for them, but for monsters like Haspiror or Pikachu, this system is simply pointless.
This find gives hope: Already a few weeks ago, data miners in the code of Pokémon GO found the following statement: “Your selection includes event Pokémon. Are you sure you want to send these?”
So it sounds like Niantic is working on a feature to include in the game that would allow you to send event Pokémon in bulk.
The find, however, dates back to March 9th. There is still no implementation. So we have to be patient.
This is how I proceed now: I have had enough with the event Pokémon by now. I just click on them now and see if it’s a shiny. If not, then I often leave them like that. I don’t want to go through the procedure of sending anymore.
Instead, I enjoy the great 2 km eggs and the important quests. The Easter event is really fun when you don’t have to constantly send the event monsters.
