What was the problem? On June 29, 2024, the top raids featured Mega Rayquaza. Here, Mega Rayquaza was supposed to appear at specific times in challenging raids that could only be challenged on-site.
However, there were problems, so not as many Rayquaza raids appeared as planned. That’s why Niantic is now making up for the event.
When is the replacement event? On Saturday, August 3, 2024. There are three times when Mega Rayquaza is scheduled to appear in raids.

But the best part of the event is a change: This time, they are not top raids, but regular raids.

This is what’s special: The fact that these are not top raids, but regular raids, is a huge advantage for all trainers. Because that means not only are they likely to be somewhat easier – especially, you don’t have to be on-site.
Regular raids can also be challenged via remote raid. So if you don’t have a gym nearby, you can be invited to a remote raid by friends or use an app for remote raids. Conversely, you can also get support from afar if you do not have enough trainers for Mega Rayquaza.
This makes the event significantly better than the original event.
What else is in the event? You can participate in a free limited research, which will again have a meteorite at the end. You need it desperately to evolve into Mega Rayquaza.
Additionally, the remote raid limit will be increased to 20 per day on this day instead of the usual five.
What is Mega Rayquaza? Mega Rayquaza is one of the absolute best attackers in Pokémon GO.
