Because: Currently, the Icognito forms “U”, “L”, “T”, “R”, and “A” are hatching from 10-kilometer eggs. Since incubators are currently working twice as fast due to the ultra bonus, you only need to walk five kilometers to hatch the egg.
Here are the chances of getting an Icognito: Sure, even the hatchable Icognito variant is rare. In the official announcement of the event, it was said: “If you are really lucky, the Icognito forms” may hatch from the eggs.
In the Pokémon subreddit, many trainers have come together to compile an initial catch rate – or hatch rate. According to initial measurements from The Silph Road, the chance of getting an Icognito from a 10-km egg is about 20.4%. When looking at the 10-kilometer eggs alone, The Silph Road states that for three hatched 10-kilometer eggs, there is a 50 percent chance of getting Icognito. For four eggs, it’s 60%, for 6 eggs 75%, for 10 eggs 90%, and for 20 eggs 99%. Keep in mind that these are still preliminary results that may be adjusted in the coming days.
You shouldn’t expect to get an Icognito from your first 10-kilometer egg. However, the event still represents a very good opportunity to finally get the sought-after Icognito.
Currently, some trainers are facing the problem of finding very few 10-kilometer eggs – Icognito do not hatch from the other eggs. There are many complaints from trainers who found only a handful of 10-km eggs during the event, some even less.
“I’m only getting 5k and 2k” writes a trainer on Reddit. Another says: “I’ve found 27 eggs but haven’t gotten a 10-km egg yet.”
Where else can you find Icognito?
Icognito in the wild: In theory, you could come across Icognito while playing normally. However, this is rare. In the wild, Icognito are hardly found. They do not have their own nests.
Icognito at events: At real-life events like Safari Zones, Icognito appear more frequently. The forms then depend on the respective event. At the Chicago GO Fest, for example, the Icognito “C”, “H”, “I”, “A”, “G”, and “O” were available, while at the MAG Erfurt the forms “M”, “A”, “G”, and “!” were available. Traveling to these events is not always easy and may not be a goal for casual players.
What’s the use of Icognito? In battles, none of the 28 forms of Icognito will be your first choice. It is rather a collector’s item – and you need it to complete the PokéDex. Accordingly, Icognito is more for collectors. There is only one entry for Icognito in the PokéDex, where you can scroll through the different versions of the monster that you have already caught.
The greatest achievement for Icognito collectors is the Icognito medal. You achieve gold status when you catch 26 Icognito – although each form counts only once.
