In Pokémon GO today, on December 22, the big Christmas event 2020 begins. We will show you all the bonuses, shinies, and important dates again.
When does the Christmas event start? It starts on December 22 at 8:00 AM local time. It will last throughout the Christmas season and end on December 31 at 10:00 PM local time.
During the event, you will find mainly winter Pokémon, and many costumed monsters will appear. There will also be bonuses that change every 2 days.
All information about the Christmas event 2020
These are the permanent bonuses: For Christmas, the list of bonuses is long again. There are:
- Pikachu, Botogel, and Petznief will appear in costumes
- In the wild, winter Pokémon like Seemops or Shnebedeck will appear
- Gelatini, a Pokémon from Gen 5, will appear for the first time in Pokémon GO
- In raids and 5 km eggs, you will find winter Pokémon – including Rossana, which can be shiny for the first time
- Special quests can be found in PokéStops
- Your avatar can wear winter clothes, and there are Christmas stickers
- Special event boxes are waiting for you in the shop
These bonuses rotate: In addition to the permanent bonuses, there are also bonuses that are only active for a few days. Here is the corresponding list:

What is known about the spawns? Announced are Shnebedeck, Seemops, and Gelatini. The costumed Pokémon Botogel, Pikachu, and Petznief will surely also appear in the wild.
In previous years, however, there were additional ice Pokémon that appeared more frequently. These include Rossana, Schneppke, and Quiekel. We can also expect such ice Pokémon this year.
Are there new shinies? So far, nothing is known. The costume forms of Pikachu, Petznief, and Botogel have not been announced as shiny, but all 3 monsters are already available in their normal forms as shiny. Therefore, one could expect their shiny forms.

What else is there? In addition to this event, there will also be 2 spotlight hours to end the year. On December 22, everything revolves around Schneppke, and on December 29, Shnebedeck will be in the spotlight.
Additionally, there will be a winter weekend on December 28 and 29. There, incense will attract the Pokémon Botogel, Schneppke, Seemops, Shnebedeck, Frigometri, and Petznief. Moreover, Regice will appear in level 5 raids.
During the Christmas event, there will also likely be fewer seasonal spawns. You may not find trash bags as often:
