In Pokémon GO, we discuss the best and strongest Pokémon in the game.
With the “Pokémon GO” app, you can step out into the wide world and catch Pokémon at your leisure. The game includes the monsters of the first generation (Red and Blue), although some of them are not yet available.
After catching the tenth Rattata, the eighth Pidgey, and maybe even the first Vaporeon, every new Pokémon trainer eventually asks: “Which of these creatures is actually the best?” Can the cute little guys hold their own, or are the only powerful monsters those that look particularly fierce?
The strongest Pokémon in the game
In the editions for the good old Nintendo, each Pokémon has individual values that determine its strength. Currently, the attributes are: HP, Attack value, Defense value, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. The higher these values, the more powerful the Pokémon.
The sum of these values can be used as a criterion to rank the Pokémon in the game. According to the current numbers, these are the top ten monsters of the first generation:
- Mewtwo (680)
- Mew (600)
- Dragonite (600)
- Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres (each 580)
- Arcanine (550)
- Gyarados (540)
- Snorlax (540)
- Lapras (535)
- Charizard (534)
- Blastoise (530)
Even though the attributes in Pokémon GO are not displayed, they are still an indicator of which monsters are considered particularly strong in the app.
In Pokémon GO, other values are visible:
CP (Combat Points): This value indicates the general strength of the Pokémon. The semicircle under the CP value represents how much of its potential has been utilized. With evolutions, the CP value increases. After that, the value can only be raised with Stardust and Candies.
The CP value of captured Pokémon is determined randomly. The rule is: The higher your Trainer level, the stronger Pokémon you will find. Also watch out for the size category of the Pokémon: The larger and heavier they are, the harder they can hit. The HP shows you how much damage a Pokémon can take in battle. There is no “best Pokémon” in Pokémon games. All monsters have various types, each with their strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, no Pokémon can be determined that is superior to all others. The question of the best Pokémon becomes redundant. One can only ask for the Pokémon with the highest values – whether it be the CP or the sum of all attributes.
By the way: If you are currently proudly showing off your Pidgeot with CP 800 in WhatsApp groups – there’s still room for improvement. Pokémon with CP beyond 2000 have been sighted. Where the maximum value lies will be revealed in the future.
Of the first generation Pokémon, Mewtwo has the highest attributes – so one can assume that it will also be a strong beast in Pokémon GO. The developers must have at least oriented themselves to these values for the app. However, it is still unknown how to find and catch Mewtwo in the game.
