When will the original form be available? Starting October 9, 2020, you can encounter the original form of Giratina in level 5 raids.
What is effective? Giratina is a Ghost and Dragon type. It has weaknesses against Dragon, Ghost, Dark, Ice, and Fairy types. So you can set up quite a broad counter team.
Are there differences to the altered form? The original form is easier to defeat but also deals more damage. Because of this, the best counters change a little as well.

How many players do you need? With the right weather and friend bonuses, you can easily defeat the original form of Giratina with just two players if you have strong counters. For players around level 30, 3-4 trainers should suffice. The altered form could already be defeated with two players.
Which Giratina are good? If the original form has 2105 CP, then it is a Giratina with 100% IV. With weather bonuses, Giratina can even reach 2631 CP in a raid. Foggy and windy weather boosts Giratina.
The maximum CP of Giratina can reach 3683. Thus, the original form is stronger than the altered form.
