The 4th generation in Pokémon GO has gained more and more additions and is now almost completely in the game. Only 8 Pokémon from this generation are still missing. We will introduce them to you.
Current status of the generation: Of the 107 Pokémon from this generation 99 are currently in the game. The big releases for this generation are therefore over.
What makes the missing Pokémon special? The majority of the missing Pokémon are legendary or mythical, but currently, there are also 2 non-legendary Pokémon missing.
1. Mime Jr.
What makes this Pokémon special? Mime Jr. is the baby Pokémon of Mr. Mime, and that’s exactly where the problem lies. What do you do with a baby of a regional Pokémon? If released worldwide, Mr. Mime would lose its regionality because it can evolve.
Mime Jr. was already teased in a picture, but didn’t make it into the game. Since then, we’ve been waiting for the baby Pokémon.
Is this Pokémon useful? Like any other baby Pokémon, Mime Jr. is useless in battle. After evolution, Mr. Mime isn’t much more useful either.
How could it be released? Baby Pokémon have only been released through eggs so far. This is likely to happen with Mime Jr. as well. The only question is how the developers plan to handle its regionality.
2. Rotom
What makes this Pokémon special? Rotom can take on the form of 5 different electronic devices. There is also the base form of Rotom.
In the console games, you could decide which form Rotom should take in Rotom’s room. However, we are still waiting for an implementation in Pokémon GO.
Is this Pokémon useful? While Rotom looks fun in its various forms, it is not particularly useful. It only reaches just over 2000 CP, and its stats have a lot of room for improvement. So you won’t miss Rotom in battle.
How could it be released? How Rotom is released is probably the biggest mystery among the missing Pokémon. One might suspect a special research like it was with Drifblim.
3. Regigigas
What makes this Pokémon special? Regigigas is a legendary Pokémon that has not yet been available for battle. It is considered the leader of the Regi trio, which consists of Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.
This means it can learn attacks from all 3 Regi types, even though it is a Normal type.
Is this Pokémon useful? Regigigas has incredibly strong stats. Its attack value is 287 and is almost as high as Mewtwo’s. However, being a Normal type means it doesn’t receive a bonus in any situation for attacking with a move of its type. Overall, Regigigas will be quite good, but not really useful in any situation.
How could it be released? Regigigas is a legendary Pokémon, so it will most likely be found in raids. It could be released after the return of Kyogre and Groudon, meaning it could be ready for release by mid-July.
4. Phione
What makes this Pokémon special? Phione is a mythical Pokémon. So far, no mythical Pokémon from Generation 4 has found its way into the game.
Is this Pokémon useful? Phione has poor stats and can only reach 2105 CP. In battle, you won’t be able to do much with Phione.
How could it be released? Mystical Pokémon have always been released through EX raids or special research. This summer, a special research with Jirachi is first planned. Deoxys is currently in the EX raid. Therefore, the release may take a little longer.
5. Manaphy
What makes this Pokémon special? Manaphy is, just like Phione, a mythical Pokémon. It is hardly distinguishable from Phione.
In the console games, you could breed a Manaphy with Ditto and hatch Phione from an egg afterward. However, this breeding feature is still completely missing in Pokémon GO.
Is this Pokémon useful? Manaphy has good stats, but it faces a lot of competition among water Pokémon, so it will not be among the best Pokémon.
How could it be released? A release through an EX raid or special research is also conceivable here. However, just like with Phione, this may still be far off.
6. Darkrai
What makes this Pokémon special? This dark-type Pokémon is a mythical Pokémon. Niantic is probably waiting for the right moment for its release, as it is one of the absolute fan favorites.
Is this Pokémon useful? Darkrai will be a true powerhouse! Its attack value can nearly match Mewtwo, and it also has a defense value that is quite decent.
Its disadvantage is the moves, which are not the best. One can hope that it gets another overhaul.
How could it be released? A release through an EX raid or a special research is also conceivable here. Darkrai is already being considered the successor to Deoxys, which will remain for a few more weeks, as there is still a form that needs to come into the game.
7. Shaymin
What makes this Pokémon special? Shaymin can appear in 2 forms – in its Land Forme and its Sky Forme. Shaymin is a mythical Pokémon and is of the Grass type (Sky Forme also being a Flying type).
Here, there will be 2 challenges. First, the introduction of a mythical Pokémon, and then the implementation of both forms.
Is this Pokémon useful? Both forms have solid stats, especially the Sky Forme has a strong attack value.
However, neither Pokémon has a Grass-type quick move, which means it cannot be truly useful.
How could it be released? As with the other mythical Pokémon, Shaymin is likely to enter the game through an EX raid or a special research. The release is likely to take some time.
8. Arceus
What makes this Pokémon special? Arceus is regarded as the creator of the Pokémon world. It is a mythical Pokémon and can assume any type in the game through special plates.
Depending on which plate Arceus is currently holding, it also changes its appearance. It remains to be seen how Pokémon GO will bring this variability into the game.
Is this Pokémon useful? Not much can be said about that yet. If Arceus can actually take on every type and also know good moves, then it should be incredibly useful.
How could it be released? Like for every mythical Pokémon, it is likely to enter the game through an EX raid or special research. However, since it is such a special Pokémon, Niantic could also come up with something entirely new for it.
Which Pokémon are you most looking forward to?
