Today, on October 11, 2021, the next round of the Super League in Pokémon GO starts for the PvP battles. We at MeinMMO have looked at what kind of league this is and which monsters are best suited for use.
What kind of league is this? Anyone who wants to compete against other trainers in Pokémon GO can do so in the PvP battles of the GO Battle League. This goes through different leagues during a season, each with different requirements. These include the Super, Hyper, and Master Leagues.
In addition, other event-based leagues take place, such as the Mini Jungle Cup. From today, you have the opportunity to compete against each other again in the Super League.
When does the Super League run? The Super League starts today, on October 11, 2021, at 10:00 PM local time. It will run for two weeks and end on October 25, 2021, at 10:00 PM.
The 5 best attackers of the Super League
As with all other PvP battles, you can use 3 Pokémon per battle in the Super League again. However, the selection of monsters is limited. They must not exceed a CP of 1,500.
For this reason, you should consider the following thoughts regarding your team formation:
- Which of your Pokémon under 1,500 CP are suitable for the Super League?
- Do you have enough candies to level them up accordingly?
- What moves do your monsters have, and do these need to be changed?
- Which Pokémon are commonly used by other players in the Super League?
With the help of PvPoke’s overview, we looked at which monsters are best suited for use in the Super League (via pvpoke.com):
Medicham
Medicham, the fighting and psychic Pokémon, is the evolution of Meditie. Due to its strong stats in defense and stamina, it is considered by PvPoke to be best suited for use in the Super League. Additionally, it deals significant damage with its attacks. Use the following moves:
- Counter
- Icy Wind
- Psychic
Because of its typing, Medicham has weaknesses against attacks from flying, ghost, and fairy types. So if you face a Medicham in battle, you should focus on counters of these types.
Galarian Stunfisk
Galarian Stunfisk belongs to the ground and steel types. This monster also impresses with its stats according to PvPoke. Especially a long stamina can benefit Galarian Stunfisk. It also has solid defense. In the Super League, you should use the following moves:
- Mud Shot
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
If your opponent uses a Galarian Stunfisk, you should focus on attacks from fighting, fire, water, or ground types. It has a particular weakness against these.
Azumarill
Azumarill also ranks among the 5 best Pokémon in the Super League according to PvPoke. It also has particularly long stamina. The water and fairy type Pokémon evolves from Marill. Due to its typing, it is weak to attacks from grass, electric, and poison types. If you want to use it in the PvP League, use the following moves:
- Bubble
- Icy Wind
- Hydro Pump
Apoquallyp
Apoquallyp is the evolution of Quabbel and belongs to the water and ghost types. Besides solid defense, it also shines with long stamina. Furthermore, its attacks are quick. According to PvPoke, it is best suited for the Super League. Use the following attacks in battle:
- Weight
- Water Gun
- Shadow Ball
As Apoquallyp belongs to the water and ghost types, it is particularly weak against grass, dark, electric, and ghost attacks.
Altaria
In 5th position, the dragon and flying Pokémon ranks in the list of the best Pokémon for the Super League. This monster can particularly impress in its defense. It has a double weakness against ice attackers as well as attacks from rock, dragon, or fairy types. In battle, it is best to use the following counters:
- Fire Spin
- Sky Attack
- Moonblast*
The charged attack Moonblast is an event attack. To teach your Altaria this, you will need an Elite Charged TM.
Other monsters for the Super League
Do you prefer to use other monsters in the Super League? That’s not a problem because there are still other strong Pokémon. The following monsters provide you with good alternatives:
- Bullterus with Catapult & Stone Edge + Flamethrower
- Registeel with Target Shot & Focus Blast + Light Cannon
- Crypto-Machamp with Counter & Cross Chop + Stone Edge
- Zobiris with Dark Claw & Leech Life + Return
- Swampert with Mud Shot & Hydro Cannon* + Mud Bomb
Which monsters do other trainers use?
Even though the monsters mentioned earlier rank among the top Pokémon for the Super League on PvPoke, they are not always relied upon. Experienced trainers often use completely different monsters in their teams or only use the listed Pokémon sporadically.
YouTuber JonkusPKMN also operates this way, presenting his 10 best teams for the Super League in his video:
In the video, individual battles with these teams can be seen in a fast-forward version. As he himself writes in the comments under his post, he has tried all these monsters in battle and therefore knows that they work well.
Especially Zobiris and Galarian Stunfisk are relatively frequently used in his battles. He pays attention to balanced selection to cover as many types as possible. His teams look like this:
| Super League | Pokémon |
| Team 1 | Nidoqueen Zobiris Irokex |
| Team 2 | Medicham Slurpuff Bullterus |
