The Hyper League is currently running in Pokémon GO for PvP battles. We at MeinMMO show you what this league is about and tell you which Pokémon are best suited for battle in November 2021.
What kind of league is it? In addition to catching Pokémon and battling in raids, you can also prove yourself in Pokémon GO in the GO Battle League. In this league, you have the opportunity to compete against other trainers.
Throughout a season, various leagues are run, which have different requirements. Always included are the Great, Ultra, and Master Leagues. You can also regularly find other event-oriented leagues like the Mini Jungle Cup.
When does the Hyper League run? The Hyper League runs from October 25, 2021, at 10:00 PM local time until November 8 at 9:00 PM local time.
The 5 best attackers of the Hyper League
In the Hyper League, as in all PvP battles, 3 Pokémon can be used. These may have a maximum CP of 2,500. For this reason, it makes sense to think about the following points in advance:
- Which Pokémon under 2,500 CP are suitable for use?
- Can you level them up, and do you have the appropriate amount of candies and stardust?
- Do the moves of the Pokémon need to be changed?
- What teams do other trainers use?
Additionally, when assembling your team, you should aim for a balanced selection to cover the weaknesses of as many different types as possible.
With the help of the overview from PvPoke, we have summarized the 5 best Pokémon below (via pvpoke.com). For all moves marked with an (*), these are special event moves. Depending on the move, they can only be learned with an Elite Fast TM or Elite Charged TM.
Registeel
The legendary Pokémon Registeel is from the 3rd generation and, as its name suggests, is of the Steel type. It excels particularly in defense and has solid bulk. Its attack, however, is only solid.
Its two charged moves are particularly interesting, causing enormous damage to the opponent. According to the rankings from PvPoke, it can impress in the Hyper League with the following moves:
- Focus Blast
- Flash Cannon
- Zap Cannon
If your opponent uses Registeel, you should use Fighting, Fire, and Ground attacks. It is particularly vulnerable to these.
Trombork
The Ghost and Grass Pokémon Trombork has only been in the game since the recent Halloween event. It evolves from Paragoni.
Its stats are all rather average. However, due to its type, it is very flexible in the PvP League as it exploits the weaknesses of several types, such as Ground, Psychic, and Fighting Pokémon. Therefore, it serves excellently as a counter. You should ideally use the following moves:
- Shadow Claw
- Seed Bomb
- Shadow Ball
Trombork, however, is weak against Flying, Fire, Ghost, and Ice types.
Fiaro
Fiaro is the final evolution of Dartiti. It belongs to the Fire and Flying types. Similar to Trombork, it can only show average stats. Nevertheless, it is fast and deals a lot of damage to the opponent with its moves. It is especially well-suited against Grass and Steel Pokémon. You should ideally use the following moves:
- Overheat*
- Brave Bird
- Flamethrower
Fiaro is particularly weak against Rock attacks, and Electric and Water attacks also trouble it.
Cresselia
The Psychic Pokémon Cresselia also ranks among the best monsters in the Hyper League according to PvPoke. Especially with its defense and stamina, this legendary Pokémon can impress. Its attack is rather solid.
With its quick move Psycho Cut, it quickly reaches the charged move, and especially with the help of Moonblast, it can cause considerable damage to the opponent. Use the following moves in the Hyper League:
- Psycho Cut
- Grass Knot*
- Moonblast
Cresselia is especially weak against attacks from Dark, Ghost, and Bug types.
Galar-Flunschlik
The Ground and Steel Pokémon Galar-Flunschlik belongs to the monsters of the 5th generation. It had already impressed as one of the best monsters in the Great League, and according to PvPoke, it is also well-suited in the Hyper League.
Galar-Flunschlik benefits especially from long-lasting stamina. Its defense is rather solid. In the Hyper League, use the following moves:
- Sand Tomb
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
Due to its type, Galar-Flunschlik has a weakness against Fighting, Fire, Water, and Ground attacks.
More strong monsters for the Hyper League
The right monster for your team wasn’t mentioned yet? In addition to the already mentioned monsters, there are other strong Pokémon that are well-suited for the Hyper League. Here are some good alternatives:
- Swampert with Mud Shot and Hydro Cannon* + Earthquake
- Regirock with Focus Blast and Rock Slide + Dynamic Punch
- Apoquallyp with Burden and Water Gun + Shadow Ball
- Abomasnow with Powder Snow and Weather Ball + Energy Ball
- Grypheldis with Stand In and Leech Seed + Aero Ass
- Steelix with Dragon Tail and Bite + Earthquake
- Giratina (Altered Forme) with Shadow Claw and Dragon Claw + Shadow Sneak
- Meganium with Vine Whip and Flora Statue* + Earthquake

Those who regularly participate in the GO Battle League know that not only the monsters recommended by PvPoke are used by other trainers. Often, completely different monsters are used in battle, or only individual Pokémon from the list are relied upon.

This team is used by YouTuber Poké AK
Insights into what another trainer’s team can look like is provided by YouTuber Poké AK. He shows in his video how he strategizes in battle and what his favorite team in the Hyper League is.
As can be seen in the video, he relies on a team consisting of Alola Ninetales, Shadow Machamp, and Empoleon. He showcases several battles in the Hyper League where his Pokémon impress and of course win.
It’s crucial that he tries to utilize each Pokémon’s strengths, which is why he regularly switches them during battle. Poké AK refers to his team in the video as “the best GO Battle team” he has ever assembled.
The results from The Silph Road regarding the Hyper League
The Silph Road community also deals with the GO Battle League and the use of individual teams. The Silph Road is a global group of trainers, data miners, and Pokémon GO fans who have come together to learn more about Pokémon GO and analyze the game. They publicly share their findings with other trainers.
Of course, they also engage with the PvP League and regularly list the teams they have seen. This is also true for the Hyper League. As of today (November 1, 2021), trainers have registered 77 different teams in the Hyper League (via silph.gg).
In their overview, it becomes clear how differently Pokémon are utilized in the Hyper League. Many trainers rely on Pokémon like Cresselia, Giratina (Altered Forme), and Swampert, which are also ranked high on PvPoke. However, there are also Pokémon like Togekiss that are noted as being ranked much later according to PvPoke (via pvpoke.com).
The following Pokémon have been most frequently used:
- Swampert appeared in 16 teams
- Giratina (Altered Forme) was seen in 13 teams
- Cresselia was used 9 times
- Charizard and Togekiss each appeared in 8 teams
- Clefairy appeared in 7 battles
