In Pokémon GO you can cause a lot of damage with Crypto Pokémon. But which ones are the best? We show you the strongest Raid attacker by type.
What makes Cryptos strong? You get the Crypto Pokémon by challenging Grunts or leaders of Team Rocket, or by completing Crypto Raids.
The special thing is: These monsters have a 20 percent attack bonus compared to their normal variant, but this comes with a nerf to their defensive values.
This means: They hit hard, but cannot take as much damage. Additionally, each Crypto monster automatically has the useless move “Frustration”. You have to get rid of it and replace it with a better move.
You can do this either at Rocket events or via a detour using a second move.
With the right moves, however, the Crypto monsters can count among the best attackers in Pokémon GO. This, in turn, can be very useful in raids.

The best Crypto Pokémon by type
How is the list created? In this list, we show you the strongest Crypto Raid attacker by type using calculations from the platform “Gamepress.gg”. Both damage and monster endurance are taken into account.
Keep in mind: The Crypto does not have to be the best attacker of its type. If it is surpassed by other monsters, we mention it here.
Psycho – Crypto-Mewtwo
No surprise here, Crypto-Mewtwo is already at the top of the attacker list in Pokémon GO and thus also a top choice among the Psycho type. It is currently not available in the game but was previously obtainable through Giovanni and Crypto Raids.
Moveset: Confusion and Psystrike
Steel – Crypto-Metagross
And no surprise here either: Crypto-Metagross is already one of the top attackers and thus dominates the Steel type.
Attacks: Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash
Dark – Crypto-Tyranitar
The move change at Tyranitar has significantly improved the old favorite, Crypto-Tyranitar is now ranked number 1 among all Dark attackers. Crucial for this: The move Dark Pulse.
Moveset: Bite and Dark Pulse
Rock – Crypto-Tyranitar
Another double: Tyranitar is not only the top choice as a Dark attacker but also as a Rock attacker. Focus here on the appropriate attacks. However, it is still surpassed by Mega-Aerodactyl and Rampardos.
Moveset: Rock Slide and Stone Edge
Dragon – Crypto-Dragonite
Even among the dragons, a Crypto is in first place among all attackers: Crypto-Dragonite is even slightly more powerful than its own Mega variant. Shortly behind, Crypto-Dragonair and -Garchomp also appear.
Moveset: Dragon Tail and Outrage
Ground – Crypto-Mamoswine
In the Ground type, Crypto-Mamoswine and -Garchomp are closely competing for the title of best Crypto, with Mamoswine currently likely edging out. Still at the top of the list is Proto-Groudon.
Moveset: Mud-Slap and Superpower
Ice – Crypto-Mamoswine
In the Ice category, Crypto-Mamoswine is also leading, in fact, it is the undisputed number one including non-Cryptos. A moveset change compared to Ground is necessary.
Moveset: Powder Snow and Avalanche
Fighting – Crypto-Machamp
Machamp is and remains a classic, especially in the Crypto variant. Currently, only Terrakion and Mega-Blaziken surpass it in the Fighting type.
Moveset: Counter and Dynamic Punch
Electric – Crypto-Raikou
Crypto-Raikou is the second best Electric attacker behind Mega-Voltenso, but is currently unavailable. It was available for a while through Giovanni. When and if it returns is uncertain.
Moveset: Thunder Shock and Volt Switch
Fairy – Crypto-Guardivor
Guardivor is the measure of all things in the Fairy category. The Crypto version is ranked second among the best attackers of the type, only surpassed by Mega-Guardivor.
Moveset: Charm and Fairy Wind
Bug – Crypto-Pinsir
Crypto-Pinsir is currently the strongest Rocket monster in the Bug category, but Crypto-Scyther is close. However, it is surpassed by other bugs, such as Shuckle or the rare Ramoth, as Mega evolutions also surpass it. Overall, Bug is not very useful in raids.
Moveset: Bug Bite and X-Scissor
Fire – Crypto-Lavados
Crypto-Lavados is among the Legendary Pokémon and was available through Giovanni. It is currently unavailable, but after Crypto-Articuno was recently in Crypto Raids, it would at least be conceivable that Lavados will follow suit. However, it is still surpassed by monsters such as Reshiram, Mega-Charizard, and Mega-Blaziken.
Moveset: Fire Spin and Overheat
Flying – Crypto-Lavados
Indeed, Crypto-Lavados is also the best Crypto here and at the same time the number 1 among Flying attackers. You just need to adjust the moveset.
Moveset: Wing Attack and Sky Attack
Ghost – Crypto-Banette
Among the Cryptos, Banette leads in the Ghost category. However, various other monsters are stronger, such as Gengar, Mega-Gengar, Skelabra, Giratina, and Hoopa.
Moveset: Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
Water – Crypto-Swampert
Crypto-Swampert is extremely popular in the PvP League but also has the potential to deal a lot of damage in raids if the opponent is weak to water. Surpassed only by Mega evolutions for Blastoise and itself, or Proto-Kyogre.
Moveset: Water Gun and Hydro Pump
Grass – Crypto-Tangrowth
A monster you might not think about is Crypto-Tangrowth. It performs well among the best grass attackers, surpassed only by Mega-Venusaur, Mega-Sceptile, and the Ultra Beast Katagami. A good option.
Attack: Leaf Blade and Flora Statue
Poison – Crypto-Venipede
With the right moves, Crypto-Venipede is a good Poison attacker but is surpassed by Mega-Gengar, -Beedrill, and Anego. Overall, Poison is also a rather unimportant type for raids.
Moveset: Sludge and Mud Bomb
Normal – Crypto-Porygon-Z
Porygon-Z takes the top spot but is negligible. With Normal types, you are usually poorly advised in raids.
