As announced by the Niantic Support on Twitter, the special research “A Creepy Message” involving the Ghost Pokémon Shuppet will not be available for long. At the end of Halloween, on November 1st, the start of the special research with Shuppet will also disappear.

Also solvable after November 1st: However, trainers can still complete the task even after the Halloween event has ended. You simply need to collect the task from Professor Willow before the event ends. So those who have already started solving the tasks do not need to rush.
Shuppet can only be caught by completing the quests
Anyone thinking that they can catch Shuppet without quests is mistaken. So far, the Ghost Pokémon is only available from the special research. Up to now, it cannot be caught in other ways.
Tasks revolve around the number 108: The quests you must complete on the way to Shuppet consistently revolve around the number 108. Professor Willow explains throughout the story that Shuppet is a Pokémon consisting of 108 souls. Additionally, Shuppet is the 108th Pokémon in the Sinnoh region Pokédex.

Tips for solving the quests: To solve the quests, you don’t need much skill. It only takes a bit of time to complete the quests. On one hand, you need to use 108 berries while catching Pokémon, and on the other hand, you need to catch 108 Pokémon. Additionally, there are a few smaller quests.
Therefore, one obvious tip is: Collect as many berries and balls as possible.
Spinning new PokéStops: Many players see a difficulty in spinning eight new PokéStops. This is a task of the special research. However, to encounter Shuppet, it is enough to skip this quest. The Ghost Pokémon already appears during the task “Catch 108 Pokémon”. However, to complete the special research, players must spin new PokéStops.
Grab the special research: All players who have not yet claimed the special research should do so by November 1st. It is unknown when the next opportunity to catch a Shuppet will come.
