In Pokémon GO, the Light Festival will start in a few days and brings you, along with some interesting bonuses, a cute new Pokémon. We have looked at what kind of monster this is and will tell you why trainers love it so much.
What event is it about? On November 5, 2021, the Light Festival starts in Pokémon GO. This event is primarily about the theme of light, which is why you will encounter Electric and Fire-type Pokémon more frequently. On this occasion, a new monster is making its debut in Pokémon GO: Dedenne.
When does the Light Festival take place? The Light Festival starts on November 5, 2021, at 10:00 AM local time and runs until November 14, 2021, at 8:00 PM local time.
Dedenne – What kind of Pokémon is this?
The Pokémon Dedenne comes from the Kalos region and is an Electric and Fairy type. It has no pre-evolution or evolution. Due to its type, it is particularly susceptible to attacks from the Poison and Ground types.
Its appearance resembles a small orange-yellow mouse with a long, bushy black tail. Similar to Pikachu, it also has red cheeks. Its whiskers resemble small antennas. For this reason, it is also referred to as the Antenna Pokémon.

Dedenne’s strength: Its values in attack, defense, and stamina are rather average. Therefore, it is not one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO and is rather uninteresting for raids. Its maximum CP at level 50 is 2,081 according to GamePress (via gamepress.gg). However, due to its type and with a good moveset, it could become interesting for the GO Battle League.
It is expected to learn Tackle (Normal) and Spark (Electric) as fast attacks. For the charge attacks, according to GamePress, the moves expected are Charge Beam (Electric), Wild Charge (Electric), and Play Rough (Fairy).
Is there a shiny Dedenne? No, unfortunately, a shiny variant will not be available in the game initially.
Where can you get Dedenne? Dedenne will make its debut during the Light Festival starting on November 5 in Pokémon GO. You will be able to catch it more frequently during the event. Keep an eye out for it especially in the wild. Additionally, you can find it in level 1 raids, as well as in the rewards of the event quests that you can spin at PokéStops.
Why trainers love Dedenne so much
Because of its appearance: Many trainers are already looking forward to the release of Dedenne. This is primarily due to the cuteness factor of the little antenna Pokémon. Jollybio writes on reddit: “Dedenne is pretty cute. I can’t wait to catch it” (via reddit.com).
Some players find Dedenne reminds them of the Pikachu family, which is why they compare it in the comments. Vulpes_macrotis writes: “Dedenne looks like Raichu’s version of Pichu. I mean, Pichu and Pikachu are similar. Dedenne and Raichu are too.” (via reddit.com).
Because of its type: However, appearance is not all that excites trainers about Dedenne. The monster has a very interesting type combination: Electric and Fairy. Currently, no other non-legendary monster in the game has this combination.
For this reason, it could become particularly interesting in PvP battles. Twitter user Juniorfan writes: “Dedenne might actually be worth using in the Super League. Fairy and Electric is a pretty good combination!” (via twitter.com).
JRE47, on the other hand, sees it more in the leagues where only specific types are allowed with the currently known moveset. He writes on reddit: “It’s okay. It’s basically just an alternative (and usually somewhat worse) Raichu. Decent, but it won’t really stand out, except maybe in metas that allow Fairies but not Electric.” (via reddit.com). Therefore, he hopes for more type-defying moves.
Further community opinions on the Light Festival
In addition to the debut of Dedenne, the Light Festival has more special features to offer, which are being discussed on social media.
Duarjo already describes the event on reddit as “his personal best event” (via reddit.com). This is mainly due to the many spawns, as thanks to Magmar and Electabuzz, he can complete his special task from last year. Some players still have this open in Pokémon GO.
However, some trainers had wished for a shiny Litwick debut. RnbwTurtle writes: “The ‘Festival of Lights’ does not bring shiny Litwick” (via reddit.com). And gscarparo also notes that it would have been a suitable time for a release (via reddit.com).
Unlearning Frustration
But Team GO Rocket is also creating plenty of discussion in the community. The reason is a special Rocket Grunt bonus that will be available during the event. Since there is always light and shadow, members of Team GO Rocket should, of course, not be missing from the Light Festival.
Starting November 9, 2021, they will appear more frequently in the game and finally give trainers the opportunity after a good six months to unlearn the charge move Frustration from their Shadow Pokémon. This brings a lot of joy to the trainers. Why this Rocket event is so important has been summarized here for you.
User ace2390 writes on reddit: “The frustration is over” (via reddit.com). Some trainers, like HylianInTJ, have been waiting a long time to remove this move from their monster. He writes: “I have an almost perfect Shadow Mewtwo that I have been waiting to unlearn Frustration!” (via reddit.com).
What the community wishes: Since this opportunity for trainers only happens every few months, some wish that it should be available more often or even permanently in the game.
This belief is also held by Caio_GO, who writes: “I can’t repeat this enough: Frustration should be changeable at any time and not tied to a limited time window.” (via reddit.com).
Whether Niantic will take this criticism into account and provide opportunities to unlearn this charge move regularly in the future is currently uncertain. If there are any new updates regarding this, you will of course find out here on MeinMMO.
What do you think about the new Pokémon Dedenne? Are you excited about its release? What kind of monster would you like to see next in Pokémon GO? Feel free to share your thoughts here on MeinMMO in the comments and discuss with other trainers.
The Halloween event in Pokémon GO ended on Sunday and caused a nasty surprise. For some trainers, the Halloween special research was reset. We looked at what happened and will show you.
