In Pokémon GO, you can now find Kaumalat in the game, but for many players, the introduction was quite strange. We explain what the problem is.
At the beginning of the week, Niantic surprised many trainers when suddenly Shiny Kaumalat became available in Pokémon GO. Initially, it was thought to be a bug, but then Niantic confirmed the Shiny.
With the introduction, many players also lost the desire for a Community Day with Kaumalat. Here’s what’s behind it.
Why many players are not excited about Shiny Kaumalat
This is the problem: Kaumalat is one of the rarest Pokémon in the game. You can hardly find it in the wild, and it is also extremely rare in eggs.
The shiny version is even rarer. If you can’t even find the regular Kaumalat, you’ll find Shiny Kaumalat even less frequently.
This was the players’ wish: Kaumalat would be an ideal candidate for a Community Day. It is rare, has two evolutions, and had not yet been available as Shiny in the game. All three are indicators for a Community Day. Many players hoped that they could finally get the Dex entry or enough candies for the evolution through a Community Day.
Here’s the current state regarding the Community Day: The chances of a Community Day with Kaumalat are now significantly lower. After all, Shiny is already available, and Niantic would greatly devalue the shiny version with a Community Day.
Of course, they could do that, but looking at the Pokémon from the last Community Days, it seems rather unlikely.
This is how players are reacting: Although you should actually be happy about new Shinies, the mood on reddit around this introduction was rather poor.
Here are two opinions from players:
- librious: “I really hope this is another mistake from Niantic; otherwise, I can forget about the Kaumalat Community Day and getting a Knakrack.”
- ntnl: “I really hope this doesn’t mean we won’t get a Community Day with Kaumalat.”
Additionally, there are more opinions that Kaumalat is just too rare to be introduced as Shiny. Players believe that Niantic just wants to boost the sales of the incubators.
What do you think? Are you glad that Shiny Kaumalat is now available, or would you have preferred to wait until the Community Day?
