In Pokémon GO there have been some changes among the Water attackers. Kingler suddenly rises to become the best attacker, surpassing Kyogre in damage per second.
Here’s why the change happened: The move Crabhammer has come into the game along with the Water Festival. This attack can be learned by Kingler and Crawdaunt, and especially Kingler has become quite powerful with it.
We will show you the new values of the attack for Kingler and reveal whether it is worth leveling up a specimen now.
Kingler with Crabhammer – Is it worth it?
What does the move do? Crabhammer is a charging move of Water type with two bars. It deals 85 damage.
If we look at the damage per second that Kingler deals with Crabhammer, it is higher than Kyogre’s, and quite significantly so.

However, Kingler is not as durable as Kyogre. Therefore, the total damage that a Kyogre deals before being defeated is significantly higher than that of Kingler.
What does this mean for Kingler? If you prioritize speed and want to deal a lot of damage in raids, you should go with Kingler. A Kingler with Crabhammer is indeed the best Water Pokémon when it comes to quick damage.
What about Crawdaunt? The Pokémon from Generation 3 can also learn Crabhammer. It just has significantly worse stats than Kingler. Nevertheless, it also ranks in the top 5 for damage per second.
A Crawdaunt with Crabhammer is thus not bad, but it is not the best choice in battle.
How can you learn Crabhammer? The attack is now normal in the movepool of both Pokémon. You can teach the move through evolution as well as TMs.
