You can get dozens of different monsters from the eggs of Pokémon GO. For our author Noah, hatching is currently no fun at all.
This is what the eggs look like right now: With the introduction of Generation 5, there have been significant changes to the egg pool of Pokémon GO – new Pokémon were added, but hardly any monsters disappeared.
For me, who usually enjoys hatching eggs and has invested a lot of money into it, the current egg pool is totally disappointing. I am currently only running the infinite incubator.
What’s bothering me about the eggs right now
This is how I feel about hatching: For me, hatching has always been one of the best factors in the game. I have hatched almost 8000 eggs and often had all 9 eggs in incubators at the same time.
I just find it cool when you get surprised by an unexpected Pokémon, and especially to have the chance of rare monsters.
This is going wrong: The first announcement that really bothered me was that regional Pokémon are now in 5 km eggs. So I walk 5 kilometers to hatch Volbeat or Sengo, which are sitting on every corner?
But otherwise, the pools of different eggs are totally overcrowded. There have rarely been so many different monsters to hatch, but very few of them are actually useful. While there are some possible Shinys, the rate in the eggs is not exactly encouraging.
Even the 7 km eggs, where you at least have higher shiny chances with the babies and Alola Pokémon, are currently disappointing. For what feels like ages, there have always been the same monsters in there, and after the 20th Rabauz, I also gave up on hatching here.
These eggs are the worst: For me, the 10 km eggs have been a disappointment week after week. Although there are new Pokémon since the introduction of Generation 5, they are just damn rare.
The majority of the eggs consist of Tanhel, Dratini, Larvitar, and Trasla. All of these are Pokémon that have already had community days and from which I have a lot of candies. Anyone who participated in the community days will think similarly.
Monsters like Kaumalat, Kapuno or Lichtel, on the other hand, cannot be found at all. For example, I have not hatched any of these Pokémon, even though I have easily hatched 100 10 km eggs since the release of Generation 5.
That’s why I’m not hatching anymore: I simply see no point in sinking numerous euros into the incubators to then hatch useless Pokémon.
This is what Niantic should change: When the 3rd generation was released, Tanhel and Kindwurm also came in the 10 km eggs. They were not damn common, but far from as ridiculously rare as a Kaumalat or Kapuno. Niantic just needs to return to this.
Why are these Pokémon made so damn rare? I still consider myself one of the hardcore players, but if I play less and especially hatch less, then the chances are even lower.
These events should give hope: The rare Pokémon that I hope to find in the eggs will sooner or later get a community day. If I don’t get enough candies for Kaumalat or Kapuno now, then maybe in a few months.
For me, it is now clear that I will continue to hatch eggs sporadically until Niantic revises the pools and chances.
What do you think about hatching? Do you like to spend money on it or do you see no point in it either?
