In Pokémon GO a test for new visual elements is running, such as the catching screen or the map. First testers have already been given a sneak peek.
What is happening in Pokémon GO? As developer Niantic announced on its own website, tests are being conducted that partially change how the game looks.
There is talk of “visual changes to the in-game Pokémon GO map, including the catching screens” (via pokemongolive.com).
While the developers explain that these tests are to take place over the coming months, the first players have apparently already been selected to try out the new graphic elements. Therefore, some are already showing on social media what it will look like.

What will be changed? Some images of the new catching screens are already circulating. Apparently, it is mainly players in New Zealand who can already try out the new features.

As of now, there seems to be several different backgrounds for the catching screen, which vary by region. There are also supposed to be several variants, such as “city” images with differently tall buildings.

How can you participate? Based on previous examples, it seems that you can only wait to see if and when you can also try out the new graphics. In the past, new features or adjustments in the game were only tested regionally before being released globally – or not.
So those in this country who want to access the new graphic elements will have to be patient for now.
What else is happening in Pokémon GO? January is coming to an end and February is approaching. The final event of the current month is taking place this weekend: “Stolen Treasures” with a Team GO Rocket takeover starts on the night from Friday to Saturday.
