In Pokémon GO you can now battle against new Shadow Pokémon. The grunts and bosses are now using different Pokémon that you can challenge and catch.
What has happened? Currently, everything in Pokémon GO revolves around Team Rocket. A fitting event has also brought Jessie and James into the game.
In this framework, Team Rocket has also been changed. There are new Shadow Pokémon and the grunts present you with new challenges. Accordingly, there are also new Pokémon with the Rocket bosses Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra.
The new grunts in Pokémon GO
This is the overview: The colleagues from Pokébattler have created a comprehensive overview of all the grunts and bosses that you can currently battle:
For example, the grunt with Ice Pokémon is back. There you can now catch Shnebedeck. Additionally, you once again have the chance to obtain Shadow Relaxo.
What do the bosses have? The new Pokémon of the bosses have been known for a little longer. They all have a new first Pokémon that you can also catch afterwards:
- Cliff: Sleima
- Arlo: Tannza
- Sierra: Lapras

Which grunts are worth it? None of the grunts still have Lapras with them. This is only available through Sierra. Therefore, there are no Shiny from the grunts anymore.
In terms of usability, the grunts with Machollo, Magnetilo, Elektek, Dratini, and Relaxo are useful. They or their evolutions are among the best attackers or are just incredibly rare to obtain.
How long will this last? The new Pokémon are likely to be a long-lasting change. Recently we could battle against the same Pokémon from the Rocket Stops for months.
