Pokémon GO ‘Team Play’: How you can secure 16 monsters through the party mode

In Pokémon GO, you can now encounter 16 different monsters and collect new Mega Energy as you complete challenges of the Team Play feature. We at MeinMMO will show you which Pokémon are involved and which tasks you need to choose for that.

What is this feature about? Since October 2023, you have in Pokémon GO the new Party Play feature, where you can form a team with friends to solve common challenges. You can always choose from a list of 3 different quests.

In addition to a special team bonus during raids and various items you can receive as rewards, you can now finally also encounter Pokémon. In the past weeks, specific tasks have been set up in the Team Play feature that should reward you with a total of 16 different monsters.

You can also collect additional Mega Energy through these tasks. We have summarized all new tasks and encounters for you below.

All Team Play tasks with Pokémon encounters

Where do the information come from? The challenges with Pokémon encounters are still very new in Pokémon GO, and thus there is currently no official information from the developers regarding the content. Trainers like Reddit users Sebastian_Adventure and Johnohmnom have compiled their tasks and Pokémon encounters from Team Play in the Reddit of TheSilphRoad.

Trainers noted that the tasks and rewards vary according to team size. However, it cannot be said with certainty whether these tasks are exclusively available for one group size or if they simply occur more frequently in certain team sizes.

Therefore, it is possible that you can find individual quests only from a team size of three players. The following challenges are said to reward you with Pokémon according to Reddit comments:

How do you recognize tasks with Pokémon rewards? Before you choose your challenge, you will see your reward indicated behind the respective quest. If the grass symbol appears there, you will receive an encounter with a Pokémon.

Are the rewards different for the team? No, as the trainers have already found out, all trainers of a team receive the same Pokémon as a reward. However, whether it is a female or male specimen and whether you receive it as Shiny can vary.

All new Team Play tasks with Mega Energy

If you are instead after the precious Mega Energy, you can now also find it for Gengar, Gyarados, Pinsir, Absol, and Sableye in the team challenges. Here too, it cannot be said with certainty whether you can find all tasks at all team sizes.

The previous tasks with Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Beedrill, and Pidgeot are still available. The following new quests are known so far according to comments on Reddit:

How to activate the feature? To use the Team Play feature with your friends, you need to follow these steps:

• tap on your avatar and swipe to the Team tab
• there, you can choose between Create Team and Join Team
• Create Team:
  • when you click on Create Team, a QR code is generated that your friends just have to scan with the game to join your team
  • once all friends have joined your team, you can start it by clicking “Start”
• Join Team:
  • if another player has created a team, click on Join Team and scan your friend’s QR code with your game or add the corresponding number there
• after that, you will receive an overview of 3 challenges from which you can choose one
