According to Niantic, this bonus has supposedly been live since Thursday evening at 8:00 PM. The increased trading radius is expected to remain available until Sunday at 8:00 PM German time.
What the increased trading radius brings
This is what the bonus includes: Normally, you can only trade Pokémon if you are directly next to each other. The radius is about 100 meters.
Now this radius has been extended to 40 kilometers. You can easily trade with each other in most cities without even having to go outside.
How to best utilize the bonus: It is best to ask your lucky friends about this. Almost every trainer should have lucky friends on their list that they haven’t seen in ages. So you can take the chance and trade over a distance.
If you want to tackle several lucky friends at once, keep in mind that you can only make one special trade per day. A special trade is, for example, the trade of Shinys or legendary Pokémon.
You should ideally trade Pokémon like Kapuno, Milza, or Kaumalat with the other lucky friends. They are rare, strong, and do not count as a special trade.
