The Community Day in February 2020 is different from usual: Pokémon GO lets you vote on which Pokémon you want to catch.
This is what Pokémon GO just changed: As announced on the official Twitter channel of the game, there will not be a predetermined Pokémon caught for the Community Day in February as usual. Niantic has decided to give the day even more into the hands of the community: You can vote for one of 4 Pokémon to be the special monster for the Community Day in February.
Normally, only a single Pokémon is announced in advance, such as Plinfa in January. The last special Community Day was the year-end event in December.
Now Pokémon GO has come up with a new form for the Community Day.
When does the Community Day take place? The Community Day takes place on Saturday, February 22, 2020. In addition to the special voting Pokémon, there will be a triple Stardust bonus. However, the major highlight lies in the voting Pokémon.
These are the candidates and this is how the voting works
These Pokémon are available for selection: Four Pokémon are available for selection. One of them will be the Community Day monster in February. All four will receive a special attack after evolving into their final form. These are:
- Vulpix with the attack “Meteorologist”. This attack can be learned by its evolution Ninetales. Both the regular and the Alolan forms of Ice type will play a role and learn the attack in different variants depending on type.
- Machollo or Machomei with “Counter”. The strong attacker gets an attack against Psychic and Ghost Pokémon.
- Rihorn or Rihornior with “Rock Throw”. Additionally, Rihorn will be available as a shiny.
- Dratini or Dragonair with “Powerhouse”. This fighting attack can help Dragonair against Ice, Rock, and Steel Pokémon. Dratini has already had a Community Day.
This is how the voting works: The voting does not take place via standard voting, but via field research. You can complete voting field researches on Saturday, February 1, for which you have to catch 20 Pokémon. Each time you complete a voting field research for your respective favorite Pokémon, it will be counted as a vote.
