In the quest line “a seven-colored shadow Pokémon”, you are supposed to battle another trainer in the Super League in chapter 3. However, there are many questions regarding this task, as trainers in the GO Battle League are struggling to find the Super League.

Fight against another trainer in the Super League
This is how you complete the task: You can easily complete “Fight against another trainer in the Super League” by challenging a friend to battle. You don’t even have to be in direct range of the player, but you can challenge them from anywhere.
- Start Pokémon GO and open your friends list
- Select a trainer who is currently online or one with whom you have previously arranged a battle
- Then select the icon for “Battle”
- When choosing a league, you should now select the Super League
- Specify the Pokémon you want to use for the battle
- Wait for your friend
- Now fight each other
After the battle, the task will count as “completed,” and you can continue your research on Crypto-Ho-Oh.
What is the problem? On social media, you often read: “The Super League in Pokémon GO is not selectable” or “The Super League does not work.” The reason for this is usually that trainers press “Battles” in the game menu and then want to enter the GO Battle League.
However, in the Battle League, you currently do not have the choice between different leagues. The Hyper League is currently running, and that cannot be changed. Only on July 12 will the Super League be the focus of the Battle League again. So if you haven’t managed to battle a friend by then, you can complete the task in the Battle League.
Trainers are puzzled that Niantic has chosen a league as a requirement that is not currently part of the Battle League (via reddit.com).
The battles against the different team leaders in Pokémon GO do not count for the task. You must fight a “real” trainer for that. It doesn’t matter whether you win or lose. Just the battle is enough. If you want, you can also choose 3 Pokémon that have very low CP and defeat them in a few seconds.
This is what you need to know: Occasionally, trainers mention bugs where their task only counted as “solved” when they won the battle against the other trainer in the Super League. It’s best to coordinate with your Poké friends so that you can complete the quest quickly.
