In Pokémon GO the legendary raids with Landorus start today, April 13. However, shortly before that, there is a setback, as Landorus has been weakened again. We’ll show you if it’s still worth it.
Here’s the situation with Landorus: The legendary Pokémon would actually be by far the best Ground attacker in the game – at least in its Therian Form, which appears from April 13 at 10:00 AM. However, there is a change in moves for Landorus, which has weakened the form again.
In short: Landorus is getting weaker, but remains useful. We’ll show you exactly what has changed here.
Landorus with Earthquake – Is it worth it?
These are the new moves: There is a whole bunch of new moves. Some old attacks will disappear because of this. The entire moveset of Landorus now looks like this:
- Fast Moves: Mud Shot (Ground), Confusion (Psychic)
- Charge Moves: Earthquake (Ground), Steam Roll (Ground), Superpower (Fighting), Stone Edge (Rock)
Previously, Landorus could learn Earth Power. This attack is significantly better than Earthquake or Steam Roll, so Landorus has now been slightly weakened.
How strong is Landorus now? Basically, the Pokémon is still strong, but by no means as powerful as it was with Earth Power. Reddit user Enemigo_Poderoso explains (via reddit): “A Landorus at level 50 with Earth Power takes down Heatran in 384 seconds. A Landorus with Earthquake does it in 410 seconds and a Groudon does it in 418 seconds.”
Overall, the Therian Form of Landorus remains the best Ground attacker, but compared to Groudon or Stoutland, it’s almost equally strong. The difference in battle will be significantly smaller.
Are Landorus raids still worth it? If you already have a strong team of Ground Pokémon, you don’t necessarily need a strong Landorus in your ranks. It’s slightly better, but only minimally.
However, from past experience, we know that Niantic brings back old raid bosses with new moves. So it’s quite possible that we’ll see a Landorus with Earth Power in the future. For this, you can already catch a good Landorus and later upgrade it into a real machine using an Elite Charge TM.
Basically, you still can’t go wrong with Landorus, but you won’t notice a significant difference compared to Groudon. Everyone has to decide for themselves how many passes they are ultimately willing to spend on the raid boss.
