In Pokémon GO some trainers were unable to participate in the Community Day Classic with Squirtle. Apparently, there is a compensation event for that.
On Sunday, July 09, 2023, the Community Day Classic with Squirtle took place. For many trainers, this was a cool event, as Squirtle itself is already a popular Pokémon.
In addition, there was also the opportunity to secure the coveted sunglasses Squirtle that day, possibly even as a shiny. If you didn’t play that day, the chance was gone. And when it will appear again is uncertain – after all, it was one of the Pokémon that had not been seen for a very long time.
However, not all trainers who wanted to participate could do so.
Compensation Event to Make Up for Login Issues
What was the problem? Some trainers experienced login issues during the event. Specifically, this involved trainers who used a Pokémon Trainer Club account for login. They could not play the game and thus could not participate in the Community Day Classic with Squirtle.
Their chance at sunglasses Squirtle was gone. Additionally, new showcases with Squirtle were also running during this time, which trainers may have missed as well.
What does Niantic say about it? Trainers quickly complained that they missed the event. Now there is a first response from Niantic on the subject: The support channel responded on Twitter to a complaint that the login did not work and that the event was thus missed.
When asked if there would now be a compensation event, the support replied: Yes, trainers. Due to the recent login issues for players with Pokémon Trainer Club accounts during the Community Day Classic: Squirtle, there will be a makeup event. All information about it should be shared through our official channels (…)
Details about when and in what form this event will take place are still unclear. Whether it will simply be repeated, or if there will be, for example, research around Squirtle or something similar, is still open. What is clear now, however, is that there will at least be some form of a compensation event.
We will keep you updated as soon as more is known.
Speaking of problems: The new showcases also did not run smoothly and did not appear for some trainers at all.
