In Pokémon GO, the Community Day with Abra starts on Saturday, April 25. This time you can even play it from home. We provide an overview of times, Shinies, and bonuses.
What is a Community Day? Normally, Pokémon GO launches such an event every month, allowing a special Pokémon to appear more frequently for 3 hours. This will also debut as Shiny.
This time it’s different: Due to the coronavirus crisis, Pokémon GO has made some adjustments so that you can play the event from home. We will show you how it works and how you can play effectively.
Community Day in April with Abra – Bonuses and Times
When: On Saturday, April 25, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM German time
Pokémon of the day: Abra
Exclusive move: Counter for Alakazam
Bonus: Triple Stardust for catching Pokémon
Bonus: During the Community Day, you can complete a special research that costs €0.99
Bonus: 3-hour incense
This is exciting about the times: The Community Day lasts a whole 6 hours this time, instead of the usual 3 hours. You have more time to catch Shiny Abra.
How playing from home works
Changes made to the game: In the past weeks, there have been various adjustments to the game due to the coronavirus. You can also benefit from these on Community Day and play more effectively. We provide an overview of the important changes:
- The item incense attracts a Pokémon every minute, making it significantly more effective
- More balls can be found in gifts, so you can overcome the ball shortage
- Spawns have generally increased, so you may find more Pokémon even right outside your door
This is how the ball shortage is tackled on Community Day: During the event, your buddy can finally bring items like Poké Balls to you. This way, they can supply you with balls while you diligently catch Pokémon.
How exactly and how often they will bring you balls is still not entirely clear.
This is how you play effectively from home: Incense lasts for 3 hours, and you should make the most of that. Ideally, activate incense twice at once, so you are stocked up for the 6 hours.
If you catch every Pokémon from the incense, you will have a total of 360 captured. The chances are high that there is a shiny Abra among them.
Otherwise, also pay attention to other spawns outside of the incense. It is quite conceivable that they will be increased again during the Community Day.
It’s best to stock up on balls before the Community Day. If you want to catch nonstop for 6 hours, you should have at least 400-500 balls in your inventory.
Community Day on the go – Is that possible?
Can you play on the go? Technically, you can go outside and play. However, there are still curfews in Germany that vary from state to state. To be on the safe side, you should play from home.
During the 6 hours, you will encounter Abra more frequently everywhere, and if you’re just after a few Shinies, then playing from home should certainly suffice.
Shiny Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam
Is there Shiny Abra? Shiny Abra is being officially introduced for the first time. Until now, the Shiny could only be caught for a few minutes due to a glitch at the GO Fest in Chicago.
Now you will officially have the chance for Shiny Abra. Niantic has already confirmed that the Shiny will be available.
What are the chances of Shiny Abra? During the Community Day, the chance of the event Shiny is always increased. So far, the rate has been 1 in 25. One can expect that Abra will have a very similar rate of shiny during the 6 hours.
Alakazam with Counter – How strong will it be?
This is the exclusive move: During the Community Day, Alakazam can learn the fast move “Counter.” It is a Fighting-type move.
How strong will Alakazam be with that? For Raids and Gyms, Alakazam with Counter is not a real enhancement. You should rather focus on real Fighting Pokémon like Lucario or Machamp.
In PvP, however, Alakazam with Counter is an interesting option. You could surprise quite a few opponents with it, and Alakazam will become more versatile. Still, Alakazam is relatively quickly defeated, so there are better Pokémon for the PvP League.
How do you get the move? For this, you must evolve Alakazam from Kadabra during the event period. This move cannot be taught via TM, the only exception being the new Elite TM.
Investigating Illusions – All about the Special Research
What kind of special research is this? During the Community Day, you can complete the special research “Investigating Illusions.” This task series could previously be purchased for €0.99. It contains:
- 13,000 Stardust
- One Snubbull
- One Rocket Radar
You can find all individual steps for the special research “Investigating Illusions” here.
This is how to get more Stardust: Use a Star Piece when you collect Stardust rewards. This way, you can even earn 1.5 times Stardust for the reward.
