Pokémon GO is getting two new raid bosses in 5-star raids today. Katagami and Kaguron are taking over the gyms – but not everywhere.
Update, September 13, 2022: The previously secret bosses are now known!
When are the new bosses coming? In the overview of the Pokémon GO events in September, Niantic officially announced: Between September 13 and September 27, there will be 5-star raids with secret bosses. The raid hours between September 14 and 21 will also include these bosses.
The bosses are now known: They are two new Ultra Beasts:
- Katagami
- Kaguron
These two will replace Deoxys in the raids starting now.
Where do the monsters appear? These two bosses are currently regional monsters.
- Katagami appears in the northern hemisphere, including Germany
- Kaguron appears in the southern hemisphere
Thus, you can only challenge one of the monsters with the “regular” raid passes unless you have planned an appropriate trip. The other monster could, however, be obtained through a remote raid with an appropriate invitation.

Two new Ultra Beasts might appear in the 5-star raids of Pokémon GO
What was found: A new discovery by the Pokeminers shows that attack pools have been added for two Ultra Beasts. These monsters are “Kaguron” and “Katagami”.
Basically, this discovery is a leak, not official information from the developers. So it is quite possible that the contents will still change or may not even make it into the game. Furthermore, this is only an update of the attacks – not an official addition to the raids.
Nevertheless, the timing fits very well with the fact that two still unknown monsters are supposed to occupy the raids tomorrow. Kaguron and Katagami are a good possibility, as the last Ultra Beasts also landed in the 5-star raids.
Especially Katagami creates anticipation in the Pokémon GO subreddit – as this monster could become one of the best grass attackers for raids with the shown attacks Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade.
Are there any other candidates? Two other monsters could also be considered as bosses for the raids, because: Recently, there have been more and more hints about the themes “Sun” and “Moon” in Pokémon GO. These match the two legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala. The two monsters are also evolutions of Cosmog, which currently plays a role in the special research “A Cosmic Companion”.
Lunala was recently discovered in a leak for Pokémon GO. At the same time, assets for Kaguron were also added – accordingly, a mix with Lunala and Kaguron is even conceivable.
For now, we have to wait – until the official announcement, or even until the start of the new raids.
