Today marks the big Bidoof Day in Pokémon GO, which is the highlight of the Bidoof event. We have summarized what to expect.
What is it about? Currently, since June 25, 2021, the Bidoof event in Pokémon GO is ongoing, which ends today, July 1, 2021, at 8:00 PM local time. Since then, the Normal-type Pokémon Bidoof has been in the spotlight.
Today, Niantic is ramping up the Bidoof festivities by launching a full event day around the little monster (via pokemongolive.com). Among other things, it will now be lurking in the wild, in raids, and even in the battle league.
What to expect on the last day of the Bidoof event
When does the Bidoof takeover take place? The Bidoof takeover will happen on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM local time. This marks the conclusion of the ongoing Bidoof event.
What happens during the Bidoof takeover? Even though you have been able to catch more Bidoof in the wild since June 25, 2021, they are expected to spawn even more frequently today. This might be your chance to catch a shiny version. Moreover, you can also encounter Bidoof during this day at Team GO Rocket and in raids.
Initially, Niantic had time-limited the current event bonuses, such as the special charge moves and the increased catch XP (via pokemongolive.com). These were not intended for the last event day. But now, the quadruple catch XP will be available again on Thursday starting at 10:00 AM.
How to fully utilize the XP bonus in Pokémon GO can be found here.
Bonuses, special research, and Bidoof Cup for the Bidoof takeover
What bonuses can you expect on this day? Today, you will also encounter Bidoof with a special charge move: They will know the event move Heavy Slam.
Additionally, you can change the charge move using a charge TM to one of the four event moves (Shadow Ball, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, or Heavy Slam). Your Bidoof will learn the charge move Hyper Beam upon evolution.
The quadruple catch XP will also remain active.
Will there be a special research? Yes, for the Bidoof takeover, you can expect a free special research. This brings a very special innovation to the game: For the first time, your decision during the completion of this research will impact the further gameplay.
You can find all rewards and steps of the Bidoof research here.
A similar special research has already been announced for the upcoming Pokémon GO Fest 2021.
What is the Bidoof Cup? As another highlight, Niantic has announced the Bidoof Cup. This will take place alongside the current Element Cup and Master League in the PvP League. Only Bidoof are allowed for the battles. The use of various event charge moves is particularly interesting.
Bidoof as a new raid boss
After Regigigas leaves the raids regularly on July 1, 2021, at 10:00 AM local time, there will be a new raid boss on that day. Since this day is all about Bidoof, there will be no exceptions when it comes to raids.
Thus, Bidoof will replace the current raid boss Regigigas in the level-5 raids and directly take its place. But that’s not all. It will also try its luck in level-1 raids and level-3 raids. There will be no Mega Raids on Thursday.
How strong the new raid boss will be in the level-5 raids is not yet known. Since Bidoof is generally not a strong Pokémon, it is conceivable that there could be a level-5 raid that individual trainers can handle alone. Whether Niantic still has an ace up its sleeve to increase the difficulty remains to be seen.
Following Bidoof, the next boss will take over the level-5 raids: Here you can find the best counters against Deoxys Defense Form.
What do you think about the new raid boss? Did you imagine it this way? And how do you find the other features that Niantic has announced for this day in Pokémon GO? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments.
This weekend will follow directly with the next event, as the Community Day of July with Floink is coming up. We have summarized all the information about this event for you.
