An event in Pokémon GO is upcoming. In their newsletter, Niantic announces an event focused on friendships for this evening.
What happened? So far, Niantic has not announced anything in-game or on their website, but those who read the newsletter regularly will have already learned: Today, on February 8th, an event centered around friendships starts.
During this event, the friendship level will increase faster, and the Stardust costs for trading will be reduced.
These are the bonuses from the Friendship Weekend
When does the event start? This evening, on February 8th at 10 PM, the event starts and runs throughout the weekend until Monday, February 11th at 10 PM.
What are the bonuses? During the event period, there are 3 bonuses:
- The friendship level increases twice as fast
- The Stardust costs for trading are halved
- All trades yield double candies
That’s why the event is worth it: Besides the event around friendships, there is another event currently happening. During the celebrations for the Chinese New Year, the chance of shiny Pokémon in Pokémon GO is increased.
You will not only pay less Stardust when trading, but you can also hope for shiny Pokémon. These will also cost less Stardust when leveling up.
What you should pay attention to: If you level up with a friend, use a Lucky Egg; it doubles the XP when leveling up. If you reach the maximum level in friendships with a friend, you will gain 200,000 XP instead of 100,000.
It is especially worthwhile to activate a Lucky Egg since the experience points for catching and evolving are doubled during the current event. With the Lucky Egg, you then receive quadruple XP.
