In Pokémon GO is the next event “High Voltage”. We summarize what happens at the event.
When does “High Voltage” take place? The new event starts on Friday, January 27, 2023. It begins at 10:00 AM local time and runs until Sunday, February 5, 2023, at 11:59 PM.
During the event, various Electric-type Pokémon will be roaming, along with some other monsters. Additionally, you can hunt for new Shinies.
Lastly, the event will also bring a Rocket takeover – but not at the start, rather on Wednesday, February 1.

What Pokémon and Shinies does High Voltage bring?
New Shinies in High Voltage: During the event, two new Shinies can be caught if you’re lucky.
- One of these Shinies is Kapu-Riki. You can encounter this legendary Pokémon in Level 5 raids. Here you can find the best counters against Kapu-Riki.
- The second monster is Eguana. You can find it in the wild, raids, eggs, and field research. It has an evolution, Elezard.

Team GO Rocket takes over on February 1
What happens with Team GO Rocket? On February 1, 2023, a new Rocket takeover starts. Not only will numerous Grunts appear, but their teams will also change.
The Rocket takeover brings some content.
- You can unlearn the move Frustration and thus improve your monsters
- The Grunts and bosses change their teams
- A new special research for a super Rocket Radar will be available
- Several new Crypto Pokémon should come to the game
- Giovanni, the Rocket Boss, will change his team. This will allow you to get a new monster.
Instead of Crypto-Mewtwo, the boss will then use Crypto-Registeel. You should keep an eye on this if you still don’t have Crypto-Mewtwo – as it is one of the absolute top attackers in the game.
If you still have a radar or a corresponding special research left, it’s worth defeating Giovanni before he changes his Pokémon.
