On March 1, 2022, the new season called “Alola Season” will start in Pokémon GO and will directly bring an event for Gen 7. We at MeinMMO will show you which new spawns, bonuses, and special features you can expect in the coming weeks.
What is the Alola Season? In Pokémon GO, there is a regular change of seasons. Each season lasts for 3 months and revolves around a specific theme, which is also reflected in the events and spawns through Niantic.
The next season is called “Alola Season” and focuses on the Pokémon of Generation 7. Niantic has already provided a first glimpse of the new monsters from the Alola region.
Further information about the new season has now been announced. We will show you all the spawns, bonuses, and events that we know so far. Additionally, we will show you which monsters will make their debut in Pokémon GO (via pokemongolive.com).
All Events for the Alola Season
When does the Alola Season start? The new season around the Alola region starts on March 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time. Like every other season, it will again last for 3 months and thus end on June 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time.

As in previous seasons, you can look forward to numerous events during the Alola Season. Above all, there will again be a Community Day every month.
In addition, a Gen 7 event called “Welcome to Alola!” will take place at the start of the new season. In this event, you can look forward to the first new Pokémon from the Alola region, such as Rowlet, Litten, Popplio, Pikipek, and Cosmoem.

All Info about the “Welcome to Alola!” Event
When does the event start? Welcome to Alola! starts on March 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time and runs until March 9, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time.
What can you expect? During the event period, you can encounter Rowlet, Litten, Popplio, Pikipek, and Cosmoem* more frequently in the wild. The following raid bosses will appear in the raids:
- Level 1 Raids: Budew*, Snubbull*, Phanpy*, Frizelbliz*, Rockruff*
- Level 3 Raids: Alolan Raichu*, Nidoqueen, Jigglypuff, Alolan Geodude
- Level 5 Raids: Tapu Koko
- Mega Raids: Mega Venusaur*
All Pokémon marked with an (*) can potentially be encountered in their Shiny forms. Additionally, this event will feature a collector’s challenge focused on the new Alolan Pokémon as well as special event field research.
All New Pokémon and Spawns of the Alola Season
During the Alola Season, you can expect thematically relevant Pokémon. Additionally, there will also be some Pokémon debuts of Generation 7 in this season.
Which monsters you can encounter in the wild and from eggs, we have summarized below, and we also show you all the new monsters. All Pokémon that you can also encounter in their Shiny forms with some luck are marked with an asterisk (*).
New Pokémon of Gen 7
During the Alola Season, you can look forward to several new Pokémon from Generation 7. The first of them already make their debut with the start of the new season and some are even already available as Shiny:

All Bonuses, Research, and Special Features for the Alola Season
Of course, there is no season in Pokémon GO where you have to do without bonuses, which is why you can also look forward to numerous special features during the Alola Season. Throughout the entire season, you can expect the following bonuses:
- Increased effectiveness of incense while walking
- Increases damage in remote raids from your own Pokémon
- Guaranteed gifts at PokéStops
- 2 free raid passes daily
- 90 minutes duration of incense
One bonus will be disabled: However, you will also have to do without a bonus that you could previously use in the new season. Niantic wants to bring the game back to its roots and therefore will disable the following bonus as of March 1, 2022, at 10 AM local time:
- Incense is no longer as effective when standing
All Special Research for the Alola Season
Another highlight of this season is the new Special Research. These revolve around the islands of the Alola region. The first part of the research will already be available starting March 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time.
You can look forward to the following research:
- Mele-Mele Island: starting March 1, 2022
- Akala Island: starting March 22, 2022
- Ula-Ula Island: starting April 12, 2022
- Poni Island: starting May 10, 2022
- Special Research at the end of the season: starting May 25, 2022
If you manage to complete the first 4 special researches before the end of the Alola season, you will be rewarded with the “Special Research at the end of the season” as a special bonus. This will also be available for purchase, as you know from the Hoopa research from the past, for about 5 euros.
