In Pokémon GO a new legendary season will start in March 2021. It will focus on the Therian forms of Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus.
This is happening in March: The festive season in Pokémon GO runs until March 1st. But in a few days, a completely new season will begin. In English, it is called the “Season of Legends” and primarily revolves around 3 legendary Pokémon.
But a lot of other things are changing in the game as well. There are different Pokémon in eggs and in the wild. We will present all the changes here.
Contents of the Legendary Season
How long will the season last? Starting from March 1st at 8:00 AM local time, the legendary season will begin. For 3 months, until June 1st, you will benefit from it.
These legendary Pokémon are coming: Niantic announces the Therian forms of Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus. These forms have never been available in Pokémon GO before, only the Incarnate forms could be caught.
However, there are no precise dates for when the 3 legendary Pokémon will appear. Instead, Niantic announced that possibly more legendary Pokémon will debut in the game later in the season.
What you need to know about the Pokémon: The Therian forms are significantly more interesting than the previous Incarnate forms. Especially Landorus and Thundurus will be really strong and will belong to the best attackers in the game.
So you should save your raid passes and invest them in the new Pokémon.
This is happening in the wild: Here too, there are major changes! The Trash Bag seems to be disappearing and making way for other monsters:
- Mantine and Wailmer appear near water – this is Wailmer’s first appearance in the wild.
- Voltorb and Charmander appear in cities.
- Seedot is expected to appear in forest areas.
- In the northern hemisphere, which includes Germany, the following monsters will appear: Tangela, Trubbish, Glameow, Piplup, Turtwig, Pansear, Piplup, Spring-Sawk, Scyther, Dratini, and Swablu.
- In the southern hemisphere, the following monsters will appear: Mankey, Yanma, Bamelin, Fleknoil, Serpifeu, Flabébé, Oshawott, Autumn-Sawk, Tannza, Dratini, and Combusken.
So in Germany, primarily Pokémon that fit spring are appearing. Tangela is a quite rare monster that is likely to appear more frequently now.
This is happening with the eggs: There are several changes. Each egg pool will be revised:
- In 2-km eggs, you will find Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, and Budew.
- In 5-km eggs, you will find Surskit, Azurill, and Swablu.
- In 10-km eggs, you will find Nincada and Mamolida.
This special research is available: Professor Willow also needs your help this season and is researching the new legendary Pokémon. If you complete the special research, you will receive candies for Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus. Additionally, further bonuses are expected to be available.
These bonuses are available: Throughout the entire 3 months, there will also be additional bonuses that will be unlocked. Thus you can earn even more XP from level 5 raids. You can take advantage of this to gather XP for leveling up.
Moreover, there will be regular free remote raid passes. Niantic will provide more information about this later.
What else is known? The Community Day in March is also already known. There, Dartiri awaits you and you can catch the bird Pokémon for the first time as Shiny.
Additionally, in the coming days, events for the month of March will be announced. We can certainly look forward to new spotlight hours and events again.
