What kind of event is this? Every Wednesday, a Raid Hour runs in Pokémon GO. For you trainers, that means you will find nearly everywhere Level 5 Raids in the gyms around you. These are the legendary Raids.
Today, on August 26, the first Raid Hour with Heatran takes place. Well, actually, it’s not the first Raid Hour with this Pokémon, because it already happened in January 2020. But after more than half a year of absence, the boss is now back in the game, and today marks the first Raid Hour with him after this absence.
The Pokémon has been back in the game for only a few days and is expected to receive a lot of attention during today’s event.
Raid Hour today with Heatran – Start time and best counters
When does it start? Right on time at 18:00, the Raid Hour begins. Then, Level 5 eggs will hatch in gyms everywhere, and Heatran will be ready as an opponent. The event will end around 19:00.
What are the best counters? Heatran is of Fire and Steel types and is therefore weak against attacks from Ground, Water, or Fighting types. Ground attacks are doubly effective, so you should focus on these.

How many trainers are needed for the Raid? If you have strong Pokémon in your team, you can defeat Heatran with just two. With average counter Pokémon, you should plan for about 4 trainers to win the battle easily.
What does Shiny Heatran look like? The shiny version of Heatran is already available in the game and may also appear to you during the Raid hour. The visual difference is quite noticeable.
Are there more Raid Hours with Heatran? It is expected that there will be more Raid Hours with Heatran in the coming weeks. However, if Niantic plans other special events, other Pokémon might also appear in the Raid Hours on Wednesdays. Heatran can still be found as a Raid boss until September 10 at 22:00.
