In Pokémon GO is set to start another event focused on the first generation right after the big Kanto Tour. There are good chances for rare Shinies. Here’s the overview.
When does the event run? It starts on February 21st at 10:00 AM and ends on February 27th at 8:00 PM. This directly follows the Kanto Tour, which takes place on February 20th.
The event revolves around the 1st generation again. You should mainly have the chance to complete special research from the Kanto Tour even afterwards without any issues.
All info on the Kanto Event
Here are the bonuses: First, an overview of all bonuses that will be active during the event:
- In the wild, Pokémon such as Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Caterpie, Pikachu, Geodude, Cleffa, Psyduck, Slowpoke, Gastly, Voltorb, and Magikarp will appear
- The incense attracts the following monsters: Weedle, Pidgey, Spearow, Poliwag, Abra, Machop, Krabby, Sunkern, Seel, and Goldeen
- In 5km eggs, you’ll find Oddish, Weepinbell, Tangela, Dratini, Pichu, Elekid, and Magby
- There are exclusive field researches with the following Pokémon: Doduo, Magnemite, Diglett, Omanyte, Kabuto, Snorlax, Jigglypuff, and Cleffa
- Additionally, there are Raids featuring monsters from Gen 1
- Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos, and Mewtwo will appear in legendary Raids
- Collector challenges from the Kanto Tour will partially continue – you can also complete them at the event
- Some Pokémon can learn exclusive moves that are otherwise only available on Community Days
How good are the spawns? Every Pokémon that can be caught from the first generation will appear in this event in one way or another. Thus, there are a lot of Shinies available. Because during the Kanto Tour, all Kanto Shinies will be activated in the game. So, there’s a chance to find a shiny version in most spawns during the event.
Especially interesting is Snorlax from the quests. The Shiny will only be introduced during the Kanto Tour and might still be missing for some trainers afterward. Otherwise, there are also interesting spawns in the wild and in the incense, like Voltorb, Slowpoke, or Seel. They are also rather rare outside of events.
Here are the exclusive moves: There will be 6 exclusive moves available at the event that your Pokémon can learn. These include:
- Venusaur learns the move Floral Heal through evolution
- Charizard learns the move Blast Burn through evolution
- Blastoise learns the move Hydro Cannon through evolution
- Pikachu learns the move Surf through evolution
- Each Eevee evolution learns the move Last Resort through evolution
- Dragonite learns the move Draco Meteor through evolution
Especially Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise will be really strong due to their exclusive moves. Venusaur will even become one of the best Grass attackers in the game.
