In Pokémon GO there is a new event! Players can look forward to Shiny Pidgey and Rattata. Additionally, there are some very special Pikachu and Eevee to catch.
This is what the new event brings: Tonight, on February 26th, a new event will start in Pokémon GO. To celebrate Pokémon Day, Niantic is also hosting a small celebration. Accordingly, there will be many Pokémon from the Kanto region to catch.
We will reveal all the bonuses of the event and show you images of the new Shinies that will be available to catch starting tonight.
This is how Pokémon Day is celebrated
How long does the event last? Starting tonight, February 26th, at 10 PM, the event will take place. It will only last for two days, until February 28th. The celebrations will end that day at 10 PM.
What bonuses are there? Some resource in the game is not doubled. However, you get:
- increased chance of Kanto region Pokémon in the wild
- increased chance of Kanto region Pokémon in raids
- the chance of Pikachu and Eevee with flower crowns on their heads
- the chance of Shiny Pidgey and Rattata
This is what we know about the Shinies: With Pidgey and Rattata, trainers now have the opportunity to catch two Shinies that are likely to be fairly common. These two Pokémon were probably the most found in the 1st generation.
It remains to be seen whether the Alolan form of Rattata also appears as Shiny. We will show you its Shiny form anyway.
This is what Eevee and Pikachu look like: Weeks ago, the versions of Pikachu and Eevee with flowers on their heads were found in the game’s code. Now they will finally be released.
Whether there will be a Shiny version of these forms remains to be seen. However, one could assume that since there were already Shiny Pikachu with special hats to catch.
This is why we celebrate: The Pokémon Day is celebrated annually on February 27th. On this day in 1996, the first Pokémon game for the console was released. Therefore, this day is also celebrated in Pokémon GO.
